I don't remember ever being left alone as a child. Well, whenever we went shopping, I would go to either the toy section, electronics, or books while my parents did their shopping. If it took long enough that I got bored at all three places, I would wonder what was taking my parents so long. Sometimes, I would start wondering the store looking for them and usually ended up scared and in tears before finding them.Originally posted by Vehemence:

Similar things happened when I would be putting something back and when I return to where my parents were when I left to put it back and they've walked away to some other spot. I still have that problem...though now I can usually keep from crying, at least to a point that it just looks like my eyes are watering... I also think it's good that you've found the SYM crew here. Essentially, someone is always here and always be here to talk to. You may not form strong social ties with all of us, but at the very least, the weak social ties you have with some people should be enough to allay the feelings of alone or being forgotten about.
Your girlfriend is perhaps your strongest social tie which can be both bad and good. If you get too attached and something bad happens (not that I'm saying that it will, I'm just saying that in this world, theres always possibility) then you might get depressed again. It's always good to have some friends who you know will always be there for you. Whether you consider us to be them or some people that you know face to face, and your family as well, it's just nice to have those people around, make you feel part of the group and not left out.

Haven't you watched 'Silence of the Lambs'? The killer spent most of his time in his house not talking to anyone...dressing up in woman's clothing...playing with his dog... Sound familiar?
