:D garlic love garlic :D

the pheonix looked at darkpoet for a moment.

"then why did you try to save me?"

"what are you talking about? i don't even know a pheonix."

the creature approached the angry knight. the fires of the feathers intensified and the bird form was lost in the fire and was soon replaced by a dark haired woman in a red dress.

"why did you try to save me? if you only enjoy death and distruction, why, then did you try to protect me?"

"jennabard..."

"Where is he?"

"Heh. Like I would tell you."

"You don't have to, I will find him."

"By that time you will be no more than a whisper of evil blown on the abyssal wind."

"You think to defeat me, you paltry piece of meat!!!"

"You are already defeated. I do not contend with you. The Way is invincible because it contends with nothing."

*snuffling the air* "He is hidden from me. You are the guardian. I know this ritual."

Loner knelt motionless. She was growing exhausted from her confrontation with the monster. She realized that to engage it in conversation was possibly the very worst thing that could be done; but she needed to hold its attention, and to maintain her own focus. It had not attempted any assault thus far, but she knew that was about to end. It wanted her out of the way, and fast. It was about to pull its last card, and she readied herself for the worst.

"I sense your thought, human. You intend to wall off your mind. I have showed you nothing but the truth so far. All the feelings for Anomen. They were all true, no matter how you try to deny them. I just reminded you. The partner and friend you killed. That was also true, was it not? And now...now I show you another truth. Open your eyes and see."

Suddenly the hall vanished, and Loner was in her own chamber, the room she shared with Kramor. She saw him and wondered, because she knew he was no longer in the Keep...

"You wanted so badly to see him, did you not?..."

She called to him, but he didn't answer; and she slowly realized: this had already happened, only moments before. She felt that familiar rage from him, and saw that he was moving about the room in a fury, gathering his things and packing them away. She couldn't clearly see his face. The demon was only giving her half the story. It didn't show her the tears streaming down Kramor's face.

"See? Do you see? He's leaving you."

"This isn't real."

The demon remained silent as Loner watched the scene, ending with Kramor storming out of the Keep and riding away.

"Remember that lapse? That's what it was. He's left you. He's gone."

Gone... Loner knew it was true. This was no illusion. She knew he was gone from the Keep. But why had he told her where he was, and why could she still sense him?...

Then suddenly she couldn't sense him anymore. His presence was gone.

"See?...

In her confusion, her concentration slipped, for just an instant...

(OOC: I sense a disturbance in the ki... :D )

Georgi felt a shift in the energies around her. She looked at Anomen, confused. His face suddenly contorted. "You won't save me. This soul is doomed... just like you, and the rest of the fools who died because of you..." Taking advantage of Georgi's disorientation, the demon swiped a claw at her, and it caught her clean in the face, knocking her sideways. She fell, losing her grip on Anomen. As she did so, her body - her soul, she supposed - was consumed with a searing, blinding torment. So this is what it feels like when your soul is torn in two, she thought, trying to retain some measure of consciousness....

OOC- may the ki be with you :D

IC-

darkpoet stared at the bard in disbief.

"why are you in my dreams, shouldn't you be off rescuing your beloved anomen?" he sneered, trying to gather his thoughts and emotions.

"he already has help, you are the one that's alone in the dark."

this jenna is different from the happy bard during the harem days, nor is she the gothic chick that broke every mirror in the keep. darkpoet studied her for a moment. more together, as if the two versions of jennabard reconcile to be this person standing in front of him. wiser and a infinitly sadder.

"you are taking the same path i did so long ago."

OOC: Here's a line (actually boy spam) that you also left out: "Oooh ...mmmm...use the Ki, Luke." :D

Thantor briskly wiped the condensation from the Qa field (not drool! :p ) from his face. Then he refocused his energies.

Wavering in and out of consciousness, Georgi was aware that there was someone else present. Focusing as best she could, she could make out Thantor's considerable shape standing between herself and the evil that attacked her. The evil was trying to circle Thantor, blistering him with curses and threats. Thantor's body began to glow a soft blue, and she heard him say, "My, you're a hostile one. Spawning issues, no doubt. I think you need a hug." Suddenly, Thantor's blue aura seemed to separate from his body, turn intensely white and head in the direction of the demon. The next thing she was aware of was looking up into Thantor's eyes, which were filled with concern and ... something else. He was greatly relieved when she regained consciousness. "How are you?" he said gently. She noticed he was cradling her in his arms as he invoked healing energies. "Great for someone who just had their soul ripped in two. You?"

"Better", he said smiling. "I did promise to watch your back." He helped Georgi to her feet. Then she remembered Anomen. "What happened to ..."

"I am in the process of re-integrating his soul. You were successful," Thantor reassured her.

"Did you destroy the demon or whatever it was?", Georgi asked. "You can't destroy something that isn't real, Georgi. You can only negate its impact, which I did. However, Loner is still in danger."

"Then why are we standing here," Georgi demanded. "Let's move." As they searched for Loner, Thantor explained how he fed misleading information to Loner about how crucial it was for her concentration not to break. He knew that the demon would have access to this information and certainly target her, making it easier for Thantor to come to Georgi's aid and retrieve Anomen's soul. Unfortunately, Loner still believed what Thantor had told her and was therefore vulnerable to attack. "That was a dicey strategy," Georgi muttered, not sure if she liked the way Thantor had placed Loner in harm's way. "It was necessary, Georgi, not only for the success of the ritual but for Loner. She is basically fighting with herself and this confrontation is critical to her development." Thantor put his hand on Georgi's shoulder and turned her to face him. "Do you understand what I'm saying Georgi? I would never place anyone in my care frivolously in danger." Georgi was caught off-guard by Thantor's intensity and didn't understand why it was so important to him that she understand this, but she felt reassured that he had considered Loner's best interest. "Let's just get going," Georgi said, pulling away. "We need to find Loner."

"it always seem that no one understands the tears of the kind ones, darkpoet."

"i'm not crying and i'm not kind, leave me alone." darkpoet felt exposed for the first time in a long while. " where are you?"

"i'm here, with you."

"no, where are you really, your body is not in the keep, last i heard you are a prisoner of the shadow master."

"i'm no longer in his power, darkpoet." jennabard spoke quietly.

"your avoiding the question, bard, now where the hell are you?"

jennabard looked away,"no where."

darkpoet jumped and grabbed jennabard and shook her violently. "what's thats suppose to mean, stop dancing around the question!"

"my body is nothing but ash and i am in between the realm of the living and the dead. are you happy now."

Nippy felt terrible. There was nothing he could do. If he left to help Loner or Georgi in the shadow realm then the field would go down and the shadows would enter, he had no choice but to stay.

When he heard that Thantor had succeeded he was gladdened.

However there was something strange going on the keep. Dragon Wench had left and he could feel another spirit nearby. Not a body but a spirit, like a ghost.

As Kramor focus on helping Loner, he didn't notice the raven that flew in and perched on the railing next to him. The bird tilted his head, staring at Kramor, as if studying him. It's eyes started to glow red. Kramer was helping to guide Loner, when he lost all focus.

Instead, there was a sweet coppery smell emanating from a corner of the room. There, upon a gilt couch, lay a woman, elegantly dressed in the style of the ancient nobility. Her sightless eyes were open, as was her mouth, and her tongue protruded as if mocking any who dared look at her. Her bodice was soaked in fresh blood that still oozed from a ghastly wound across her throat. A long, dark dagger, stained with her blood, lay a few feet away.

As Kramor look around the room, a cloaked figure stood in the doorway covered in blood. He couldn't see the face, because of the hood. When Kramor's eyes looked back to the woman, then back to the doorway the figure was gone. Something seemed so familiar, about this room.

Then Kramor remembered about Loner, "Oh my god, Loner!"He tried to focus back to her, but he couldn't. All he saw was the dead woman's face................

"Damnit!!!" Loner shouted aloud, as she felt the demon gleefully fly away. She knew it was searching for Georgi, and Anomen...she had to find it. She reached back for the Katana, forgetting it wasn't there. This is a battle of the spirit, she realized. "The greatest warrior is the one who conquers himself," that's what Lomoro always said...

She stood and looked about. The hall was empty, with no exit...except one.

No...no no no no no...

Loner felt a pull from the abyssal door on her left. Suddenly she heard Nippy's voice:

"Loner! Come back now! Everything is all right!"

"No," she replied. "Everything is far from all right...the demon has gone after them, and I must find and defeat it."

Nippy was saying something else, but Loner couldn't understand him. She approached the door, shivering in horror at the emptiness that emanated from it. She closed her eyes, reached out to Thantor. Couldn't find him. Reahced out to Kramor...and just as she registered the emptiness there, she remembered what the demon had shown her. Maybe this is it, she thought. Maybe this is my destiny, to end here. It doesn't matter now anyway, so I go to my end with a good heart.

She stepped through the door.

"Damn! Why didn't she stop! I can do nothing here. Gods I hope shes all right. That's it Kramor, Kramor can help her."

Nippy focused again, he needed to contact Kramor.

"Kramor"

"Who is that"

"It is Nippy, I am speaking telepathically, you must connect with Loner again, she needs your help"

"I'm trying, but I can't. Something is blocking my focus to Loner. I keep seeing a dead woman, who has been murdered. Nippy, you might have to help her, I am trying to get through."

Visions flash through Kramor's mind, the struggle, the woman's neck being cut and the cloaked figure leaving. Kramor was getting frustrated, then he felt something on his shoulder. As he looked, he saw the raven, staring at one of the rooms.......

Vivien looked uneasily around the dungeon and at the immobile Dark Poet.

"Try to think of something inspirational to recite, Thantor suggested that to me and it worked well," said Dragon Wench.

Vivien nodded and after a moment began to chant softly. Gwalchmai led Dragon Wench to the rock wall where he had seen Kramor disspear. They traced the wall with their hands, but nothing seemed to budge.

Do you think that there could be some kind password?" speculated Dragon Wench.

With a michievous glint in his eye, Gwalchmai spoke to the wall. "Open Sesame," he bellowed. ;) .

Much to their surprise, the wall began to move.

As Kramor, reached to open the door. He heard a noise down the long hallway, a door opening. Kramor headed towards the noise. He was halfway down the hallway, when a piercing scream echoed through the ruin, cut off by a gurgle. A cold chill pasted through Kramor, as if someone had stepped on his grave. The raven on his shoulder, just tilted his head and stared at the room with the closed door.
