Dragon Wench shivered as she recalled her recent nightmare, dark figures with flowers of some kind emblazoned on their cloaks, laughing hideously as they surounded the tent.... But looking up she noticed Anomen's figure advancing upon them, and she saw the murderous expression in Loner's eyes. To the knight, she said, "Anomen, I think it might be best if you waited outside."But...he stuttered, I heard that Georgi would awake soon, I wanted to be here." He looked imploringly at the two women. Dragon Wench, although she was beginning to suspect that his intentions were sincere, repeated her command. Anomen, his grief etched into his features, left the temple.

Waverly couldn’t believe how well his plans had worked thus far. These people were even easier marks than the folks back in Baldur’s Gate. Ah, what fun that was. He had gained wealth and even a lesser title during that gambit. But he couldn’t bring himself to stay and enjoy his success. He always felt a bit empty after a game came to a close, and learned to quickly move on to keep his spirits high. It was the chase, after all, and not the prize that fueled him.

Sitting here with Viv, he wondered if she was here solely out of duty or if she would have shared a drink without the deception. It didn’t matter, it was very much the same to him. “I wonder how seriously she takes this little mission,” he wondered and placed a hand casually on her knee. “We’ll see shortly :D

Vehemence: Rofl :D Be careful or the combined powers of the five flames will be sent to 'deal' with you ;)

Brink: Sweetie :) So, what do you owe me now? ;)

DragonWench, Loner72, Georgi: Wonderful additions :) More exciting than my pub crawl by far ;)

Loner: I'm sorry you forgot that...if it makes you feel any better I'd have probably done something like that too... I may have missed it, as I just knew it was a martial arts test, but what level are you testing for?

Waverly: *Vivien sits trying to keep Waverly occupied, when she feels a pressure on her knee. She looks around the table, at Waverly and Darkpoet, and gets a little nervous as to who exactly is touching her. "Um...I'll just get us some food, yes, food would be good." Quickly scrambling from the table she accosts the bar maid and with a worried motion, whispers "Do you have an 'gigilo be gone' potions handy?" The bar maid looks surprised and than giggles while handing her a swirled purple pill. "Aye, and this has got m'through some tough nights dearie." Viv looks at her gratefully, and places an order for chicken wings. Returning to the table she beams a smile all around before covertly swallowing the pill.*

Vivien: Hopefully very soon  I will be testing for the rank of 6th kyu. That's six levels before black belt. It's a very low rank, but I'm proud to have made it this far. My art is Aikido, BTW.

I keep remembering what Mr. Miyagi said in "The Karate Kid":

"Karate here (points to head). Karate here (points to heart). Karate never here (points to belt)." :)

Loner72: I had a friend who took Karate, but she didn't get very far. (I've mentioned Lissa wacking iron posts and 'learning the hard way') ;)
What do you feel you've learned from studying martial arts? I've been interested in taking something, because everyone can beat me up :( But, maybe kick boxing...something that doesn't rely on my 'arms of sloth'... ;)

@Vivien: Well, if you have "arms of sloth," I have "arms of weakness" ;) Some arts do require strength but Aikido (properly taught) is not one of them. It's all about exploiting weak angles and stuff. Taking the attacker's energy and leading it to its natural conclusion, which is that the attacker ends up on the ground ;) . The Founder said that when one person attacks another, he "falls out of the universe." He violates the natural law. As a result the attacker is really the one "doing" the technique. Their own negative intention is their downfall.

What have I learned, hmmm...I've learned patience, for one thing. Accepting that where I am at any given moment is right where I'm supposed to be (I have to vigorously remind myself of that at times however, like now  ...). That's just one thing; there are many other results; I feel my life has more balance and I'm much calmer than I used to be...

It sounds a a bit like yoga in some regards. Does Aikido also create something of a meditative state? Martial arts have long intrigued me, it's a question of getting together the cash.......
