Order of the Dark Flame (Story, No Spam)
the Master gaze upon the defeat of his army with disgust. he continue to survey the battle through his scrying mirror. how did the dark flames saw through his illusions? they are not that powerful, yet. why are the flames still alive? waverely should had them disposed by now, he was his best minion... well no matter i still have jenna.
the Master smiled as he turned away from the mirror, he looked at his handy work and smiled with satisfaction. 'she will never be able to escape this time.'
jennabard lay in chains, still unconsious from her flight, in the middle of a 10' by 10' cicle. it took the Master many years to perfect this particular barriar. for one thing it was made with anti-magic. no mage or spellfire caster can distroy an anti-magic sheild.
it will take some time to break jenna to his will once again. last time he used guile, but it won't work this time. the Master smiled evilly once again. on matter what game he chooses to play, he has all the time in the world to play them. and that includes the dark flames and his pet.

From out of a treeline to the right, a battlecry was heard. A warrior with two flailing katanas ran at great speed from the cover and shoulder barged thantor to the ground making him go senseless. He started to circle loner who had a look of surprise on her face. Not only was she confronted with a katana swordsman but he was also controlled by a thrall collar. Could thantor become concious quickly enough to dispel this foul controlling device before she had to either hurt him or would this new mans glowing blue and red katanas slice through her armour?
(ooc: Sounds a bit like the endings to batman! Also thanx to jenna and loner for the PM's. I've joined in a little earlier than planned!)

Damn it, Loner thought. She had been thinking of Kramor just before the warrior had burst from his cover, and she hadn't been focused on the surroundings. She had heard Thantor fall to the ground and Dagret order the Lollipop Guild to aim but hold fire. The stranger had surprised their entire contingent as well.
Loner felt the man circling her, and she heard the soft swish of his blades -- katanas, she recognized the sound. She also felt a strange energy from the warrior; his will was disturbed somehow, as if not under his own command.
She decided against drawing her own mighty blade, the Katana of Doom, and stood motionless, with her hands held out, palms-outward, at her sides. Blind as she still was, she could have disarmed him had he been wielding only one blade; but she could hear he had two.
"Who are you?" she asked, in a calm voice. "We mean you no harm. We are seeking someone who is wounded and lost."

"I do not know my name, but it matters not. My master the wicked warlock of the west wishes your end and I shall accomplish this mission with pride"
Loner couldn't see him but by the sounds of his blade he was trained well. He had a Kara-Turian accent but the sounds of his running did not reflect the true innate balance from someone of the East. Who was he? Could Thantor recover quickly enough to dispel this control or would she be caught out without any help?
Meanwhile the warrior studied his surroundings. The opponent he faced was blind. An advantage to him but the contingent of Halflings had bows trained on him. He would become a Human pin-cushion if he was not careful. He had to think of something!
(OOC: Thanx for telling me you were a Kensai loner. If you could dispel the magic from me I would like to tell you of my origins!)

While the conversation between Loner and the warrior was going on, the Scarecrow, who had taken cover (and camouflaged quite nicely) in a nearby thicket, was hard at work. She had noticed that the warrior was wearing a collar, the like of which she had seen before and recognized as a thrall collar of the Wicked Warlock. From her hiding place she quietly cast dispel magic, and the collar fell to the ground. When Loner heard the sound, she whipped out the Katana and whirled swiftly around, holding the blade directly to the stranger's throat, to his very great astonishment.

"Wha...What happened? Where am I? I remember fighting the warlock and then everthings blank."
The stranger dropped his katana's and loner motioned one of the halflings to pick up his blades that he dropped.
"NOOO do not touch the blade! They will disintegrate! Leave them be. I will move them away. Bending down slowly he pushed the blades away.
"I request that none of you touch the weapons. They are attuned to my soul and my soul only." He could tell he would have to explain about them seeing the quizical looks at him by the halflings.
"The red blade contains a portion of my soul, it also contains the soul of a prince of a fire salamander. It was forged by my grand master in Kara-Tur. if anyone but I touches the blade both will be destroyed due to the powerful bonds involved. The same story for the blue blade except it was a prince of ice salamanders"
Nippy suddely felt drained. He slumped to his knees. His last look was at the powerful warrior in black still holding the blade at him.
OOC: Thanx for the intro loner! Maybe I can reveal more of my story later on....

The warrior appeared to be unconscious, and Loner sheathed the Katana. The Lollipop Kids relaxed their bows. Just then Thantor came to, groaning. A Halfling cleric went to him and started administering aid. Rusty came out of the trees, leading the Lion, who had run away the instant the dual-wielding warrior had jumped the party. Loner knelt down beside the stranger. Dagret approached, and signalled the cleric to come over when he was done helping Thantor.
"His grand master in Kara-Tur..." Loner muttered to herself, wondering who this grand master had been.

OOC: Hi Nippy. Great to have you join us
Still feeling a bit groggy, Thantor joined Loner at the fallen warrior's side. "What's his story, besides the fact that his manners need some attention."
"He apparently was under the control of the wicked warlock," said Dagret, holding up the thrall collar.
"He mentioned something about his blades being forged by a grand master in Kara-Tur," mentioned Loner, thoughtfully. "I wonder who that might have been."
"Well, let's get him on his feet so that we can find out. I'd also like to see what he knows about the warlock and his Nanoprobe," said Thantor.
"Nanoprobe?" asked Loner. She heard a snicker from Dagret.
"I was talking to some of the halfings. I guess that is their nickname for the legendary staff of the wicked warlord."
"Really," laughed Loner. "And what else have you heard from our fine halfing warriors?"
"Patience, my lady. I have to attend to our mystery man here." And with that, Thantor and the halfing cleric began to work on the fallen warrior.

Nippy started to move. His head was pounding but more importantly he was free of the warlocks control. He started to remember things that had happened during his control. Most recently he remembered the female kensai. He got up and found his katanas where he left them. It was good they had not touched them
"Hello again" came a voice behind him.
"My name is loner and this is Thantor, where are you Thantor?" Thantor showed himself.
"I...I apologise for my actions. You have no idea how awful I feel"
"It is all in the past now" said Thantor still gingerly rubbing his shoulder from the fall.
"I imagine you wish to know about me. My name is Nippy. I come from Athkatla but was raised in Kara-Tur. My father, may he rot in the 9 hells forever, was a merchant and nobleman. I am his bastard son. He ignored me when I was young so I had no choice but to act in my interests. By great chance when I was young, I believe I was 9 summers old, I came upon a training area for my grand-master. He batted me off as an insolent youth with no talent but I returned every day for a week requesting training. Eventually he consented and trained me in the arts of kai and the katana. I told you of my blades? Good. I travelled to the plains of fire and ice to find the salamanders and fought for a long time. If the blades were to be destroyed a bit of me would die with them."
"Who was your master" asked loner.
"He was Hitomi"
"Ah" said loner.
"If you are travelling to the warlocks castle could I travel with you. I have a need for vengence and I wish to repay you the service. My blades are in your hands, so to speak. Even if you agree or not I wish to help you loner. I imagine Thantor has tried curing some of the taint from the fire? I can help with that. If you will give me a moment to meditate.
Loner could feel Nippy's ki from a long way off. He was channeling the energies of nature through himself, requesting their help.
"If you will come here loner." The wounds were horrific.
Nippy passed his hands over loners burned areas in a repeated pattern. He mumbled words to himself and after 5 minutes of this he let off.
"I have healed you burn wounds but there is nothing I can do about your eyes for the moment. If I obtain some certain herbs and roots then they will help me heal you.
OOC: Thanx Loner & Thantor. I've got some ideas for entering the castle if you want to hear them. Also loner I hope you didn't have any problems with being healed. Just let me know if you had any plans and I'll edit.

Vivien had to stifle a laugh when she saw the gnome commander, but Georgi reached for her bow. She had seen svirfneblin in action, and they weren't quite as ridiculous as they seemed. Out of the corner of her eye, she saw Dragonwench do the same. She quickly counted, there were 10 ogres and ogrillons... shouldn't prove too much of a problem for the four of them.
The colour guard were taken by surprise as a volley of arrows and magic missiles streaked towards them. The commander spurred his horse on, but Vivien hurriedly cast a hold spell, and he froze in his tracks. Gwalchmai, meanwhile, still invisible, had crept closer and now took out two ogres with his impressive staff. (

Who, me?!?
While this warfare was occuring a serious discussion was going on. The entrance to the tower would be difficult. The elite guard were capable fighters but there was a garrison of 50 of them. There was no chance to force themselves in yet the option of sneaking was also out.
"He has the winged hooters scrying for invisibility. With the power of his nanoprobe he can command them and see through their eyes."
"I do however have an idea" said Nippy. Is the collar still around?"
The halflings showed it to him.
"Good. If I meditate I can create enough energy to resist the control. If I put it on I can pretend that I am bringing you in for the warlock and we can spring a trap. However the Halflings must stay outside the castle. It would not be plausible I brought in 20-odd people on my own."
"Do you consent loner, Thantor?"
OOC: This is shaping up quite nicely!

The commander’s powerful horse froze in mid-gallop as Vivien’s hold spell took effect. The gnome, however, was not so fortunate, as his momentum sent him flying over the head of the horse. The gnome landed in an undignified heap. “Stupid beast, “ the gnome began to squeal, but then his eyes grew wide as he saw his Guard lying dead to a man, “Who dares...” but he interrupted himself.
A grin slowly spread across the gnome’s face as he beheld the ode-inspiring perfection of the three women who advanced upon him. For though their fury is a terrible thing indeed, the Dark Flames are the epitome of all things delightful to the eye, including such worn-out cliches as ‘You are beautiful when you’re angry.’
“Ah, Ladies,” he said, sweeping his ornate helmet off his head in an elaborate bow, “I am Commander Julius Wartknee. How may I be of service, since you obviously went to such great lengths to find me?”
“You are going to tell us everything we want to know, you little Svirfneblin!” Dragonwench growled, her sword gleaming.
“Oh, come now, Ladies. ‘Little’ is such a relative term. You no doubt know as well as I that ‘Dynamite comes in small packages’ and ‘There is no short or tall when horizontal’?”
“Enough of your platitudes, Wartknee!” shouted Georgi, “Tell us who is behind all this! What do you know of ‘Sir Enoch’? Why is someone going to such great lengths to attack the Order of the Radiant Heart?”
“So many questions, my Dear. Tsk, tsk. I don’t know where to begin.”
“Let me get him to talk,” Vivien said while starting to prepare some spell components, “This won’t hurt too much, Commander...”
“Wait!” the gnome said while taking a step backward, “That won’t be necessary. Besides, you’re not the only ones with a few tricks up their sleeves!” Saying that, he touched an amulet on his shoulder that had been disguised as an epaulet. A small fizz was heard, and then nothing.
“What did you just do?” Georgi demanded.
“Nothing my Sweet. Nothing at all,” the gnome said with a crooked smile and pointed over Georgi’s shoulder, “Well, maybe a ‘little’ something...” The ladies turned to see a faint mist envelope each of the bodies of the color gaurd, while a chilling wind blew from out of nowhere. Dark shadows suddenly erupted from the bodies of the dead ogres and ogrillons. “We will crush you. Crush you to goo!” The shadows hissed in creepy unison.
“Stay back, you fiends!” Gwalchmai shouted as he leapt out to defend his friends. He swung his staff at the nearest shadow, but the staff whiffed through the dark mist to no effect. The shadow touched Gwalchmai’s shoulder, and he felt it go numb with the freezing cold. Suddenly feeling
weakened, Gwalchmai yelled a warning to the ladies, “Level Drain! Don’t let them touch you!”

That there; exactly the kinda diversion we coulda used.
With the combination of Thantor's continual healing work and Nippy's healing power, Loner's burns had healed. But there were still scars on her face that no skill seemed able to remedy. She left off the mask, but kept the blindfold. The wounds were horrible around her eyes...or rather, where her eyes had once been. She was in constant pain. And she was also constantly pissed off. She wanted to find Kramor immediately. She had asked Thantor to tell her the instant he saw any sign of Kramor at all, so she would have time.
"I'm not sure I trust that idea," she said in response to Nippy's idea about the collar. "If anything breaks your concentration, we're all doomed."
The Scarecrow then came forward. "I can fix it so the break remains," she said, "but can't be seen by anyone." She approached Nippy with the collar and fitted it on. It felt considerably looser, but looked no different. "That'll do you," said the Scarecrow cheerfully.
The group hid behind a ridge overlooking the castle, and peered over. There was a drawbridge over a moat, and before the dark walls the elite guard crossed stiffly back and forth, chanting: "oh-EEE-oh! ee-OHHHHH-oh! oh-EEE-oh! ee-OHHHHH-oh!..." It was a dreadful sound.
Rusty gulped. "W-wh-whatta we do now?"
"Yeah," answered the Lion. Something in his voice and manner reminded Loner of Gwalchmai for some reason. Minus the cowardliness, of course...
Nippy spoke up. "Now is the time for me to bring you all in as my 'prisoners'. Loner, Thantor, Rusty, and...you two," he said to the Lion and the Scarecrow. The Lollipop Guild was to scout and wait. Dagret planned to create a diversion at an opportune time, so some of his men could enter the castle covertly.
Nippy led Thantor, Loner, Rusty, and the Scarecrow over the ridge. "I'll...just..." the Lion mumbled as he slowly slipped off...
Loner reached out and grabbed him by the mane. "How do you do that?!?" the Lion asked, shivering from head to paw.
"Never you mind, I have ways," Loner replied. "You are coming with us. Now let's go."
They made their way within about a hundred yeards from the castle, before the guard spotted them. The guard ceased pacing and stood battle-ready.
"Hold!" cried the captain. "It is a thrall!"
He approached them and smiled. "Well. What have we here. Your orders were to destroy them."
"I thought the Master would like to amuse himself with them first," Nippy replied in a flat voice.
"We shall see," replied the captain. He gave orders for the drawbridge to be raised, and the six companions stepped inside.

OOC: A good continuation Loner!
With the drawbridge down the inner courtyard of the castle was huge. Nippy could see the winged hooters fluttering around and barely had time to shield his eyes before one fluttered around in front of face.
"Get away from me you flithy monkey!"
"Oh the indignity" with a quick flap the monkey flew off.
With the elite guard surrounding the prisoners there was little place to run. They had to follow through the plan.
Nippy made as if he was about to hit loner only to get close enough to warn her about the elite guard.
"They have a habit of hiding in shadows. Beware and keep your wits about. Their aura if foul and you should feel it from a long way away."
"Have you had any luck remembering your grand-master?" said loner.
"The only thing I can do is describe him to you. He had brown hair ice-blue eyes. He had a scar down his left side and is tall of a slight build. He is about 50 summers old"
A look of surprise came over Lonet that description fit Lomoro perfectly. She did not want to reveal this yet though.

"The only thing I can do is describe him to you. He had brown hair ice-blue eyes. He had a scar down his left side and is tall of a slight build. He is about 50 summers old"
A look of surprise came over Lonet that description fit Lomoro perfectly. She did not want to reveal this yet though.

OOC. Phew, a serious page turner, I should have went to bed a few hours ago!!!!!! Awesome , and I love the wizard of oz parody!
fighter/mage (which school do fire spells fall under, I've misplaced the damn manual)
For the first time in several weeks Dragon Wench felt something close to her normal clarity. The intensity of the battle was chasing away the demons that had tormented her since Jenna Bard had began to manifest her worrying behaviour. Perhaps she should have been more forthcoming when her friends had asked about Jenna Bard's past, she reflected. But, it had been too painful to talk about. Jenna Bard had slain the one person that Dragon Wench had ever really cared about. For years she had sworn vengeance, and she'd searched for Jenna Bard relentlessly. But when she'd finally tracked her down she realised that the Jenna Bard she'd found was not entirely the same individual who had caused her so many years of hurt. So, instead, she had attempted to bury her past and she'd remained with the women who had linked themselves to the now wayward knight. What was more, Dragon Wench had found something of a home, and her new friends had helped to ease the ache that had so ceaselessly gnawed at her soul.
Focusing, she summoned several greater fire elementals. They cleaved through the vile, hissing shadows, and soon none remained.
ooc, BTW thanks for keeping my avatar alive.
