Now, the freshly dead or hurt people that DP deals with would really turn my stomach (although I've been through my wife having two babies - one cesarean, one natural, and felt no queasiness whatsoever. Go figure.)

That wouldn't be because she was hurling obscenities at you or throwing sharp objects would it now? :D :D :D I remember the natural birth of our son quite vividly, I think my partner was afraid of me for weeks afterwards. :D

Evolution would be an interesting subject. I already posted a bit on the subject in the Theological Quandaries thread. Waverly is quite well versed in the subject. I would need to do a little reading.
Yes, Waverly and I have discussed this briefly before. Unfortunately I was not posting during the Theology thread, you might remember I was away from the board then. Hm...I'll post something on the sunject later on.

About my username, your earlier guess was very good, but no, C Elegans is not related to my research. I only do human brain research, and we are very, very far from being able to generalise knowledge about C Elegans to humans, or indeed mammals.
The true story is simply that I have a bleeding heart for all those creatures killed and experimented upon en masse in modern science. Some people care only about the "cute" animals like rabbits or cats, I care equally of all creatures who can experince pain. At the same time, I'm pro the use of animals in science, but that doesn't mean I like it.
So, I have the habit of naming all my CRPG characters after this kind of creatures. My Diablo II sorceress was named Aplysia, a sea snail often used in neuroscience :( It's just a stupid way of sending a small thought for them.

End of story - time to wake up :D

see gwal, i am just the opposite. i stayed with my cousin in Memphis when i got out of high scholl for a while. one night while cruising i happaned along an accident. a guy was walking along the roadside, obviously bleeding so i stopped to help. he said he had a friend in the car that was worse off than he was. so i got out ( the car had run off into a wooded area), followed the man to the car where his friend was. i shined my flashlight at the car and there he was. they had flipped the car and the guys head literally had the door stuck into it. it was cool in a way(a sick way). his eye was hanging from the socket down on the door, and the guy was telling me that we had to save him! i was like, we can't help him but we should get you to the hospital. anyway about that time we got back to the road to find a policeman writing me a ticket for parking on the shoulder. he tore it up after he found out why! :D

just one story in the life of leedogg! ;)

No, actually, I was amazingly helpful throughout -- so much so that my wife actually bragged about me to her friends for months. The first one was 35 hours of labor (3 cm +), 5 hours of hard labor (pushing), ending in cesarean. I was yelling at the doctors to let the midwives do their job, rubbing her back until my arms fell off, Not sleeping for days... She was so exhausted by the end that I ended up taking care of the baby for the first day of her life. Best experiences of my life. :) :) :) :)

@ Gwalchmai, awwww, that's sweet. 35 hours of labour, OMG!Your pour wife!
Actually, my partner was really great too, cooked for the midwives and the whole nine yards.... it's just that I was in a vile mood. :D

@CE: I like your name story. Has some good meaning behind it. Better than mine (a baby name book?). I always wished that I had come up with a cool name like 'Dragon Wench' or 'Fable' or 'Bob'. :D

@Leedog: Yeah, that was probably cool at the time, but I'm glad it was you, not me. BTW, do you know how to test if the small fragment you dig up at an archaeological site is bone or shell? You touch it to your tongue. Bone sticks. :D

@LeeD & Gwalch: I'm certainly more like Gwalch here. I have never even been even nauses at the sight of accidents or fresh bodies, but a mummified body is no troble at all - I could have it four lunch if properly prepared. :D Would not taste so good though.

@Gwalch: My name story I think, just reflects I'm not a roleplayer at all.
Bob is a very cool name, isn't it? :D ;)

I guess since I study history I'm more comfortable with the truly dead than I am with the freshly dead. Although, I admit, I'm also a bit squeamish, I've never been able to watch surgery on tv.

Not true! You are the only one who didn't reject your match from Waverly in the Matchmaker thread! (Even I was rejected in a most foul manner) That is quintessential role playing! You've obviously had training... :D

BOB is the name of the Baseball stadium in Phoenix, Arizona (Bank One Ballpark - capitalism in action).
