hey.. just a suggestion: why dont u email it/send it to someone else to give them a shot? eh? I mean, send them ur game file.. to see if it is AT ALL possible, w/o cheats, of course... i think that'll be a great idea. and if the person figures out a way to do it.. u can just 'incorporate' it.. and complete the game. voila. hehe anyway, congrats on ur achievement.. hehe

I have finally take this challenge and tried out the beastmaster (again). Last time I played it, I went halfway through SoA, but then I became bored. So this time I started a new game in ToB and gave him the best equipment from SoA.
The beastmaster can best be played either as thief (with stealth - but no backstab) or as an "archer" (with running around and ranged fire). I decided to permanently use a shield to compensate the weak AC, so it can even engage in some melee. Here is the standard eqipment:
-Helm of Baldurian
-Bracers of Defense:3
-Amulet of Seldarine
-Ring of Gaxx, Ring of Protection+2
-Cloak of Mirroring/Cloak of Sewers/Cloak of Non-Detection
-Boots of Speed
-Girdle of Frost Giant Strength/Golden Girdle
-Sentinel+4/Reflection Shield+1
-Gnasher+2, Sling of Arvoreen
-Potion of Invisibility, Potion of Extra Healing, Rod of Resurrection
And here are the special items (for special uses):
-Club of Backblood+3, normal Club, Sling of Everard, Shield of Baldurian, Staff of Earth/Air/Fire, Helm of Brilliance, Vhailor's Helm, Moon Dog Figurine, Book of Infinite Spells (Spell Turning), Efreeti Bottle, Horn of Silence, Ring of RAM/Earth/Fire/Free Action/Human Influence, Potion of Invulnerability/Absorption, Protection from Undead Scroll/Restoration Scroll

Well, the first half of went well. But in most of the times I had to rely eaither on running-around or stealth (or protection from undead) and became bored again. The high level abilites are nice, but the beastmaster is just too weak (both in AC and in damaging) to tank well.
So I "teleported" to Mellisan to do the final challenge. It was very hard, but not harder than the solo sorcerer (without items and cheese).
I have gathered and used the following ToB items:
-Crimson Dart+3
-Staff of RAM+6
-Roranach's Helm
There are a couple of issues to success:
-keep alive
-keep the damage low
-differentiate the enemy minions
-concentrate on Mellisan
The first is to keep alive. That means running around and use healing. With Cloak of Mirroring and negative saves the only danger is a melee hit. With Boots of Speed most of the enemies can be leaved behind. With heaps of healing potions and two full Rod of Resurrection one could live for a long-long time.
Second: keep the damage low. The tools: Roranach's Helm, Potion of Invulnerability/Potion of Absorption,Armour of Faith, Hardiness. The last ones are precious, so use only one/two per encounter. Differentiate the enemy minions: with the above tools, crushing weapons are not so dangerous. So Glaberzus and Bone Fiends can be withstand well. BTW: Bone Fiend's weapon is errounously missing the magical flag, which can make it an easy opponent if someone imported a game from SoA (tear reward). Death Tryant can be dangerous, but can be dealt with Shield of Baldurian. Balor is dangerous (vorpal), but slow. Marilith is moderately dangerous and can be a very tough opponent to kill with the constant stoneskin (special weapons, like Club of Blackblood recommended), better avoided. Slayer Shadows are dangerous. Very quick and has multiple slashing attacks. If there are too many it is better to kill some and hope that Mellisan summon a different type of monster.
Concentrate on Mellisan: is obvious. There is a trick here, though. Use quick ranged attacks (Crimson Dart: 5/round) to remove her stoneskin and then hit her with Staff of RAM+6 in Greater Whirlwind.
The first two encounters can be won with the proper use of the above tactics. In the third and fourth more things are needed: summons, simulacrum, improved hastes and a good luck.

Oops, I just realized that I shouldn't have both Roranach's Horn and Staff of RAM+6. Well, I hope Staff of RAM+4 is enough.
