He still looks pretty dark to me (maybe not James Earl Jones dark, but still...) :D
Nature’s first green is gold,
Her hardest hue to hold.
Her early leaf’s a flower;
But only so an hour.
Then leaf subsides to leaf.
So Eden sank to grief,
So dawn goes down to day.
Nothing gold can stay.

We've already met Durnkrag's dad... I'm still scrubbing my eyeballs from that, too!

You realise that Durngrim is a Shield Dwarf, correct? Many of those guys can be that dark-skinned at their darkest, especially more towards the south of Faerun. Then again, Dwarves, Gnomes, and Halfling characters from 'The Temple of Elemental Evil' are very dark-skinned as well, so it makes you wonder? A connection to the earth, maybe?

Kayless: Cripes! Too much time in the sun?! That's more like "too much time in the oven!"

That, and he got a wig designed after one of those Death Knights from WarCraft 3. Maybe the Undead Scourge is a equal-opportunity employer after all. :D

jopperm2: I'd try checking Player's Guide to Faerun for a good pick of a Gold Dwarf.

Note: If you do look in PGtF, the actual Gold Dwarf pic is titled under Gray Dwarf, and visa-versa (unless that was fixed in later issues of the book).

Oh, wait, here's the art gallery for PGTF on WoTC's site here. The Gold Dwarf's the one on the right in the picture titled 'Dwarves'.

That one's not nearly as Afro as the one in the setting book.

Speaking of Afro's, Durnkrag's hair was originally supposed to be an afro rather than his spikey dragonball-esque helmet hair. :D

There's your fun fact for the day.

Well, up next is everyone's favorite priestess of Lolth, Teagan!

Fortunately, the big writing projects are practically done and over with, so aside from the studying, I might start finding more time for this stuff, at last!

BTW Kayless, which do you feel best giving your advice with gray areas on DCI characters: this thread or 'DCI Needs Your Help'? The thing is, which thread you may view more nowadays may affect this. For Teagan, I'd like to discuss her equipment (notably a weapon) and Cleric Domains.

Also, did I get Durnkrag's armor right? I thought it was a breast plate mainly because
1) Full plate would have likely had more metal joints in the arms and legs than 'Krag's current armor has. Half-plate would had likely had a little more material to it as well, though it might really look wierd. I haven't found any mentions of vanilla "plate mail" in 3.5 Edition since 3.0 Edition.

2) You likely would have made some scene in one comic where he complains of the joints in his armor stiffening, or maybe chafing him through the padding. Maybe both.

3) Wouldn't Durngrim have given him an entire suit and said it was FULL PLATE MAIL (not in those big letters, though) if it was full plate?

This thread is fine. I check it out fairly often. ;)

I've got no complaints. :) But it's important to remember that I'm lazy and drawing intricate armor is time consuming, so that's a factor. :p

Krag doesn't usually complain (at least not about physical discomfort, annoying teammates on the other hand...). :D

It’s been awhile, so I forget what exactly he says when he gives Krag the armor. :o In any case, I have no problems with it just being a mithral breastplate.

Okay, so here's what I really need help with concerning Teagan.
 1. Her Cleric Domains. Drow and Spider, maybe?
 2. Her equipment. Definitely got her holy symbol of Lolth and breast plate down. What about a weapon?
 3. Her feats. The only way she can get 'Daylight Adaptation' is if she got it as her first-level feat and came from the 'Cormanthor Drow' character region (at least according to Player's Guide to Faerun). Since she came from Menzoberranzan, I'm not sure about that. Maybe so.
 4. Her stats above all else. I was thinking 10 Str, 12 Dex, 12 Con, 13 Int, 17 Wis, and 13 Cha.

Probably. Or maybe it's just her race's reputation that makes many people have trouble believing her.

All in all, let's wait and see what Kayless has to say.

Yeah, I thought about that too.
Truth be told, I'm wrestling with it in my current quest.
One of my players plays a drow, and people respond porly to that. BUT, I'd say that an external factor. Her stats are internal.
Her internal stats define her abilities, the extrenal factors alter the outcome.

I'm not trying to debate here btw :) , we should wait to hear what Kay has to say. I'm trying to get my head straight about the playing in my quest by writing it doen here, that helps me think. :)
Her Cleric Domains. Drow and Spider, maybe?
Works for me. We so seldom see her cast magic or fight that just about any domains would fit (I really need to put her in fray more often). :o
Her equipment. Definitely got her holy symbol of Lolth and breast plate down. What about a weapon?
She had a whip back when she was a sprite character (simply because the female drow gif from Baldur’s Gate did). It’s pretty kinky, which fits her, but are there any 3.5 stats for the whip of fangs?
Her feats. She definitely has Daylight Adaptation, regardless of where she’s from. There’s no getting around that. As for other feats, perhaps Combat Casting...
Her stats above all else. I was thinking 10 Str, 12 Dex, 12 Con, 13 Int, 17 Wis, and 13 Cha.
I definitely think her Cha needs to be upped. ;) I agree with Rob-Hin’s assessment that external factors shouldn’t affect her basic stats. I also think her Dex should probably be higher too (she’s quite supple, as Castor will attest). :D

Honestly, the Drow aren't my strongest point in FR/D&D.

Well, here's everyone's favorite priestess of Lolth, Teagan!

Teagan D’rynn
Chaotic Evil Female Drow Cleric of Lolth 7 (ECL: 9)

Hit Dice: 7d8+7 (42 hp)

Initiative: +3

Speed: 20 Feet in Breastplate (4 squares)

Armor Class: 18 (+3 Dexterity, +5 Masterwork Breastplate) Touch 10, Flat-footed 15

Base Attack/Grapple: +5/+6

Attack +9 Whip of Fangs (2d6/x3 plus poison)

Abilities:
10 Strength
16 Dexterity
12 Constitution
13 Intelligence
17 Wisdom
16 Charisma

Skills and Feats: Concentration +8, Heal +8, Intimidate +3, Listen +5, Search +3, Spellcraft +2, Spot +5; Combat Casting, Daylight Adaptation, Lightning Reflexes*, Lolth's Blessing

Saving Throws:
Fortitude +6, Reflex +7, Will +8

Special Qualities: -1 to Attack and saving throws when exposed to bright lights such as a Sunburst spell (sunlight effects negated due to 'Daylight Adaptation), 18 Spell Resistance, +2 to saves against enchantment spells and effects, +2 bonus to Will saves against spells and spell like abilities, +2 to Listen, Search, and Spot checks, Darkvision 120 feet, Immune to magical Sleep effects, Spell-Like Abilities

Special Attacks: 6/day Command/Rebuke Spiders, 6/day Rebuke/Command Undead

Spell-Like Abilities (1/day, caster level 7): Dancing Lights, Faerie Fire, Globe of Darkness, Levitate

Cleric Spells per Day (Lvl. 0-4):
5/4/4/3/1
Domains: Spider and Drow
Domain spells memorized:
1- Cloak of Dark Power (Drow)
2- Spider Swarm (Spider)
3- Suggestion (Drow)
4- Giant Vermin (Spider)

Equipment: Masterwork Breastplate, Silver Holy Symbol of Lolth (Black Widow Spider w/ female drow head hanging from a spider web), Whip of Fangs

Challenge Rating: 7

My calculations on the Whip of Fangs damage is just an estimate. Unfortunately, I couldn't find ANY mentionings of the famed weapon's enchantments anywhere. Nothing in my books. Nothing on any WoTC webpage. Nada! :(

Note: * = gained by Drow domain
