So can I assume that by 'depression' you mean 'misery', not a medical condition?Originally posted by Tybaltus
Therapy? Music. Whenever I get depressed I listen to music. Seems to make it better. If that doesnt work, I sleep or play games that dont require too much thought, like Diablo II. One of these or a combination of these makes me feel better.

I have the same problem. I can never remember important things or what I'm supposed to be doing. Up-side is work bought me a Palm V to help.Originally posted by Mr Sleep

I hate spiders. They have a tendency to cease living when around me.
My vision is so bad that if I put my glasses down and forget where I left them I can't find them again. Not good when you live alone.
Also, my memory is completely shot and I can't remember anything I've done or am meant to be doing.

My hubby, he can't remember a thing except the names of electronic components. He doesn't remember his life. He doesn't remember his former girlfriends. He can't remember what he reads. He has no sense of chronology. Strangely, he has a great memory for the computer games we play (which I haven't) and he also knows where I have put all the things that seems to disappear several times a day, like my keys, wallet, rucksack, the important papers, etc.

I love spiders too. They help keep worse insects out of our house. I let spiders roam free in my room without killing them, that is unless they too close to my pillow. Thats when I have to take action.Originally posted by C Elegans

I have my reasons. When I was in Chicago I very nearly rubbed a nice big black hairy spider all over my face. I had just stepped out of the shower and at the last second found this big spider had deicded my towel was a good place to sit. I was 12. I have hated spiders ever since.Originally posted by C Elegans

After 10 years I calmed down a bit near them, and was simply capturing them and releasing them outsidewhen I found one. Then I visited the butterfly park at Stratford during my holiday and saw the tarantulas there.
Now I hate spiders again.

But you live in kiwiland, there are no venomous spiders there?
I know I shouldn't tell you this, but I must tell you about a friend of mine who was camping in Amazonas and managed to lock himself in with a tarantula. The spider must have been there in the evening, because my friend awoke with the spider walking on his stomach and his tent was closed. In fact, his tent was so closed he couldn't open the zipper in his panicky state. So they guy who was with him awoke by seeing this little one man tent jumping around and shouting

Tarantulas arent that bad. I have been close to a few of them. I think all spiders look cool in different ways.
As far as poisonous spiders: Up here we get Black Widows. They hang out near brick walls and secluded areas I think, but they are extremely rare. I think Ive only seen one.

We actually do have one species of venomous spider here, but it's quite small and not many people come in contact with them.Originally posted by C Elegans

And I really feel sorry for your friend. If that happened to me I probably woudn't be able to sleep for days.

@Tybaltus: Black widows are so pretty, I wish we had them here. I've heard they aren't at all as dangerous as some people think, their venom is not very strong, is it?
@Flibblo: One venomous spider? I didn't now, where do they live? Good for you that people (you) don't come in contact with them often. How strong is their venom, could people die from it or is it more unpleasant?
My friend developed a short lived spider phobia, not surprisingly. It wore off after a couple of years though, luckily
When I was at Kamchatka penisula 2 years ago, a very large and colourful spider happened to find it's way into our jeep. I asked the driver to stop the car, took the spider in my hand and put it beside the road. Later, my hubby checked in a book and concluded that was actually a fairly poisonous spider, I could have become very ill if he had bitten me. However, spiders aren't aggressive creatures, so the risk is small.

I dont study spiders at all, so I dont know exactly how deadly it is. Ive heard people die a few hours to a day after it bites you. But I have no idea how accurate it was. Regardless, when I saw it, I knew I should keep a general distance, but I knew it wasnt going to randomly attack me. I just looked at it for a minute or so and let it be. I remember it being an OK looking spider. Nothing to really call home about (Excuse the cliche). I take more interest in rodents, felines and birds.Originally posted by C Elegans
