music recommendations

I agree that the rock and punk scene right now isn't really that good. I haven't heard one band that actually interests me. That's why I am turning toward you guys.

@Kameleon:
I only have Radiohead's first two albums, Pablo Honey and The Bends. I've heard OK Computer and Kid A but I can't really get into it. IMO, the first two Radiohead albums were better than anything else later. But that's just my opinion.

Limp Bizkit and Papa Roach are both very forgetable, they don't really have anything outstanding. Limp Bizkit is only going to get worse with the leaving of Wes Borland.

From my other friends I got some recomendations. I just want to know if you guys have ever of them and what you think.
1) Propagandhi
2) Strung Out
3) Gorillaz

Gorillaz isn't really rock (at least from the couple songs I've heard)....oh and by the way for anyone who's moderately interested, I hear Fred Durst might be playing the guitar for Limp Bizkit now....jeez that's scary........is it just me or does he try to do everything?

Yeah, Gorillaz aren't rock, they are pretty good though

- I agree that The Bends is the best Radiohead album, but I rate their latest stuff extremely highly as well, in particular the live album "I Might Be Wrong - Live Recordings" which has one of the most beautiful songs I've ever heard on it.

I'd also not touch the Gorillaz with a bargepole, but it's up to you, I suppose. If you like them maybe you'll enjoy Craig David...

@Georgi, is that a Nickelback quote I spy in your signature (Good Times Gone)? Or is it how it reminds me...

@Georgi, buy The Holy Bible NOW!!!! It sometimes ascends into dumb political name-dropping (look at me, I've got a politics degree!) but most of the way through it's pure hardcore, with loads of cool samples at the begginings of songs (Blokes talking about underage prostitutes, old northern women ranting bout god, 1984 etc)...

Kid A is great if you can get into it (I find it more like one giant song than 12 seperate ones, which I love), but The Bends is a work of genius, especially Fake Plastic Trees (the second best song ever written

)

@ Frogus: Did you say somewhere that you saw them live? Is it true that Thom Yorke has less stage presence than a dead monkey? Did Jonny Greenwood hide in a corner the whole time?

I was thinking of Like Spinning Plates when I wrote that, but I have to agree that True Love Waits is a class song too. But the Plates intro is just exquisite...

I was at the South Park concert too, it seemed that at the very beginning Thom in particular was scared poo-less (after half an hour of waiting for them to come on I thought they'd bottled out

), but after they got a few songs under their belt, they seemed to settle down. He didn't have an enormous presence when introducing songs etc., but he is fascinating to watch when he is singing, it's really hard to take your eyes off him (unless some lost metaller with DM boots is moshing in front of you

). Tell you the truth, I didn't really notice what the others were doing, even though I was quite close. And playing Creep at the end of the gig, the first time they'd performed it in years, just gave everyone such a buzz that it'd be hard to knock the gig.

Oh, @frogus, do you know which of the songs on the IMBW live album were recorded at the Oxford concert? I know some of them were but I can't decide which...

Yeah...kids, that South Park show was a wicked gig...it was their homecoming to Oxford after about 6 (?) years away...and yeah, Thom was freakin terrified. 'Just our first gig in our home town this millenium....no pressure' if I remember his words correctly.

He's got a wierd act going, but IMHO pogoing or making jokes with the crowd would ruin the feel of the music... @Kam, I'm pretty sure that it has never been documented which tracks on IMBW are from where - I've looked. I'm pretty certain that Ideoteque's from Oxford, but apart from that I don't know...

BTW @ Kam, do you know which teacher it is that he wrote 'Bishop's Robes' about? (you do go to Abingdon, right?) - hint - it's a creepy Latin teacher, I don't know if he's still there, but I do know that he was three years ago...

also, were you in the stand at the front? That little exclusive pig pen for the first 2000 guests, plus celebrities? I didn't get in...

The thing distracting me was that my girfriend (who I was with at the gig) was asthmatic, and had lost her inhaler in the Supergrass moshpit

. We were right at the front, pressed against the fence, and as you can imagine she wasn't doing so great...

I was yelling for 'Just' at the last encore (man I wanna see that song live

) but they wouldn't play it. 'Creep', though...that was incredible...a real experience. LOL...

Well, this won't meet politically oriented, but I really like Avril Lavigne's music, it's really good stuff, the fact she's hot has absolutely nothing to do with it...

Also, for plain fun stuff, LiveonRelease, Relient K, Travis, Odds,and Weezer, would top my lists.
