@Robnark: I think many Europeans don't appreciate the African teams enough - I watched African Nations Cup first time many years ago when Eurosport broadcasted it, and I was pleasantly surprised the football was so much more fun to watch than the old England-Germany 0-0 games. It actually made me interested in football again after having become tired of it

One of my friends always used to laugh at my liking of African football - until he watched African Nations Cup and started liking it himself
It's a pity though that the defensive play of many European teams often kill the fast-forward style of play teams like Kameroon and Nigeria have.

@CE: i agree, the african all-out attacking style is wonderful to watch. and this is coming from a person who never watches (league or, usually, international) football, and considers it uninteresting, slow and uneventful.

@Robnark: Yep, I'm trying to get my husband interested in football (at least the World Cup), and my plan is to force him to watch Sweden-Nigeria
Btw, nice sig

Now we are two in this club

Well, following the quest for Lord Stanely, I'm going to try and watch the entire Fifa World Cup... Maybe that'll spark an interest in this sport.

The entire World Cup

I will only pick some matches I'm interested in, and then hope I have time to watch it.
Football in your part of the world is crazy - why is it called football when it's mainly played with the hands?
How is it going in Stanely cup play-offs? I haven't been following the results for a week now.

Well, luv, I got three of my pics in the Semi-finals (Toronto Maple Leafs, Detroit Red Wings, and Colorado Avalanche, the fourth is Carolina Hurricanes), The Detroit/Colorado series is tied at one a piece, while the Toronto/Carolina series is 2-1 Carolina. I'm hoping for a match up between Toronto and Detroit, though.

Thanks for the update sweetie, I'd be very surprised if Toronto shouldn't win over Carolina. The Red wings are my favorite team, but since they've won a couple of times quite recently, I wouldn't mind Toronto as champions, for a change

It's been a long time IIRC.

Wow, smart, sexy and a Detroit fan... I think I love you
Yes, though, I agree it would be nice to see the cup come back to Canada, it'll be hard to root against my fav's.
Though, it isn't looking too pretty at the moment for either team, as Colorado is winning 1-0 in 2nd period as we speak
