Folk: Believe it or not, Bulgarian, Irish, and Venezuelan
I admit to being brought up on (and enjoying! :o ) Irish folk. Who do you like?

Ugh! I hate MEtallica. Not just for their music, but for who they are. They're so against people sharing music for free, and that they're missing out on money because of it. They already millions, and they want more... Greedy basterds...

@Georgi: Don't get me wrong, I have no problem with paying for music. But they going into an uproar over a few songs being D/L'ed. It's like we're talking full albums, just one or two songs here and there. Half the people that D/L the songs, already have them on CD. MEttalica is just being greedy, watning more. How many other bands and groups did you see getting massivly pissed at Napster?

If that was true why couldn't these people just rip them to Mp3 themselves?

BTW i agree with you Aegis, it makes you wonder if the band are producing money for expression or just greed.

Most my jpop I don't have on CD. Some of my other music I have on CD. Most of my other music, I have on tape. Most of those tapes are 20-30 years old(they actually belong to my parents) and don't work anymore. So, I download'em. I also download a song of a group that I may or may not like to see if I like it, then, if I ever get enough money I might by the CD. That's another problem. I'm a monetarily deficient college girl who goes shopping a minimum of 2-3 times a week, so I can't exactly afford to buy a CD. :(

Nani shiro, to answer the original question...I like jpop, pop, pop rock, some rock, some rap, jazz, classical, country, country/rock, and anything else that doesn't give me a headache. :D :D

Songs Listened to while typing this post: Louisiana Saturday Night by Mel McDaniel, I'm In A Hurry And I Don't Know Why by Alabama, and Love In December by Ace of Base.

Ace of Base  i haven't heard that name in a long time.....

i can appreciate that one would download some older tracks, i have the bends by radiohead on tape, but i could not figure out a way to get it onto CD so i recorded the tap from Wav to my MP3 player and then ocnverted the wav file to MP3......

The thing is most people who own computers and are not using college or cybe cafes are reasnoably well off financially, so saying that most of the youth of America can't afford to buy a few CDs seems IMO untrue. i can see however why a student would not be able to afford these luxuries.

@Sleep: About your comment about ripping em to MP3 themselves, it's not that easy if you don't have the right programs. I've searched for a year, and can't find any program but Siren that will do it for me.

I have to agree with u too Aegis it is 5really dumb that people who already have milions take actions against a good thing (napster in thise chase) because they don't get any money from it.
from a band who doesn't have millions i can understead that they don't like it, but those bands didn't mind giving there music for free.
they saw it as a promotion for there music.
so why can't a group who has already made it, not only waste things for us, but also the promotion from new bands.
that's just to eogistic, i like the music of Metallica very much though :D :D

What it all boils down to with Metalica is that they abandoned their fan base. I was the biggest fan of Metallica For years. They made the best, edgiest, rebellion music there ever was. Then, right after the black album, they changed their style. Now the stuff they put out pretty much SUCKS, bigtime. I own every cd they made up til Load, which really was their downfall for me. I mean if you make a CD with one good song, you can't blame Napster for you not selling records. Then a person like me, who has bought and justice for all atleast5 times, doesn't deserve the right to down load a few songs that I have payed for time and time again  ,Ohhhhh, it pisses me off. I will never buy another Metallica CD, EVER!

Sorry for the rant... :D

Not a problem Lee. To sum up what has been said about Metallica, they have becomne Sell-Outs.

You haven't seen Rioport Audio Manager? It came on my laptop and I've seen it in stores. Maybe they just don't have these programs in Canada. I've seen at least 3 or 4 different programs in the stores that'll do that.

Exactly....this last year of college i met new people and was introduced to many new music groups. To see if i liked them i would download several songs and form an opinion of the group. If i liked them, i bought the album when i had the money.

Don't shop so much and you'll have more money....i know, i know. that statement is totally lost on you... :D

Ace of Base i haven't heard that name in a long time.....

I still love Ace of Base and Michael Jackson ;) :D Thought about goin back the other night and puttin that on my original post.

How long a time? How far behind am I in finding this group? I'm not surprised I'm behind, though. I only just got interested in rock last year, thanks to my girlfriend. She convinced me to download songs like Kryptonite, With Arms Wide Open, and...uh...I forgot what else. I got her back for it though by getting her interested in country music. :D I happened upon Ace of Base when I was downloading Sailor Moon music vids and found one of the song Tokyo Girl. I liked it and searched out more Ace of Base songs and downloaded them. Another reason to download mp3s: The ONLY eminem song I like is The Real Slim Shady(and I like the music a LOT more than the words), so I'm definitely not going to go out and buy an eminem CD just for that one song. So, I downloaded it(and this totally kawaii parody by Sailor Chibi Moon called "The Real Suga Baby" :D ).

Songs listened to while typing this post: Song of the South by Alabama, Standing Outside The Fire by Garth Brooks, Angel Eyes by Ace of Base, and Tokyo Girl by Ace of Base. (Yes, I took a long time to type this. I think I need to reboot my brain, I'm running low on system resources. :D )

@SS: I'm not sure if it's because I'm in Canada, or I'm just not looking in the right places, but all those MP3 programs, that you can rip them from CD onto the Comp, I just can't find them.. Maybe I'll have to order online to get one...

They were the short-lived "thing" back in my sixth grade days....being seven or eight years ago.
:D :D :D

It's also funny that you would label them "rock."

I find it hard to even label them Alternative...as broad as the genre is.

I label anything that's not country, jazz, pop, jpop, rap, or classical as "rock." Which used to be everything that gave me a headache. :p Back then, I'd just say, "I hate rock" and it would include all that stuff I didn't like. :p I might know more about the exact divisions of musical genres if I listened to the radio more, but when I actually do listen to da radio, it's usually a country station. :p

Songs listened to while typing this post: Angel Eyes by Ace of Base, Tokyo Girl by Ace of Base, and There Is No Arizona by Jamie O'Neal.

Oh, and I was about 10 or 11, in about the 4th grade, when Ace of Base was the "short-lived 'thing'" as you put it. I didn't listen to much music at all back then cause I was too busy either biting people or exploring the snowy woods of the Rocky Mountains in New Mexico. Dat's back when I actually went outside occasionally. Amazing, ain't it?
