This is for those songs that when you hear them... your spine almost tingles and you close your eyes, almost hypnotised by their rhythm, the voice of the singer(s), the instrumentals, the atmosphere they evoke.
Manowar's "Master of the wind" sends shivers down my spine every time I hear it!

So does a song taken from a film about the settlement of the Magyars in Hungary - it has such a wonderful tune, and not one time the lyrics made me cry  (Altough there's nothing sad or tragic in it, it's about leaving your homeland and returning home. Wonderful.)

Another great one is Bruce ****inson's "Tears of the dragon" - it's effect has faded a little since I first heard it, but the part "Slowly I wake, slowly I rise..." still feels the same every time :) Same goes for the ending of "Gates of Urizen", too. (You might not expect it from a metal singer, but his voice is fantastic to my ears...)

<edit> What?! I'm not cursing, it's his NAME

No, it's from Hans Zimmer as well. I wish I could you give you the original songs title, but all I get is 'Hans Zimmer - Armageddon Main theme'.

Fatherhood for the first time. This one is for my son.

For the First Time, by Kenny Loggins from the OST "One Fine Day" (1996).

This was being played as I remembered seeing my infant son's picture for the first time.

I was out of the country when my wife gave birth to him, and I only got to see him personally after 3 months...

A snip of the lyrics...

Are those your eyes?
Is that your smile?
I've been looking at you for ever,
But I never saw you before.
Are these your hands? Holding mine?
Now I wonder how I could have been so blind.
And for the first time, I am looking in your eyes.
For the first time, I'm seeing who you are.
I can't believe how much I see,
When you're looking back at me.
Now I understand what love is,
Love is...
For the first time...

In this case the rules state that one may substitute a letter to avoid the filter. Bruce Di©kinson's ;)

Peter Gabriels - Salisbury Hill
Runrig - Hearts of Olden Glory
Rufus Wainwright - Hallelujah
R.E.M - Daysleeper

I'd put even more if only I could remember their names, the perils of posting while at work away from my collection

@DW excellant choice of song, oooo also, Peter Galbriel - Red Rain,
Donkeys are aliens!

Argos contains the 'Laminated book of dreams', to catch the 'Tears of joy'.

Completely, completely agreed, specially when after the first half of the theme. Interplay had the musics free for download, I have them on my machine

Used to play it on the violin, years ago.

i don't know what the song is called in english, but it's a military song in finland named(porilaisten marssi)it's played(in the army) whenever there's a special day for the military/country in finland, it can bring tears in my eyes simply because our generation owes so much to those that fought the russians... i heard it many times during my time in the army and it's simply so emotional..

I've got their best of album, but the songs I reallllly like are in the DUSK TILL DAWN THE BEST OF CAPERCAILLIE album, half of the songs are in gaelic, some in english, others purely instrumental. I have listened to it for almost 2 years every day. It's true, I listen to it before I go to bed. It used to make me go to sleep faster, now I just listen to it and wait to go to sleep, which has always been a problem ever since I was born. (I was born at night :D )

I just thought of another song that, although swoon may not be the word, does move me.

Swoon, eh?
That's a pretty tall order, but hey!

Well, Ian Gillan and Roger Glover of Deep Purple went solo for a while in the mid 80s. During that time they made a solo-album which wasn't all that good, but it contained the rather complicated ditty "She took my breath away." with all the funny sub-weirdness only good song can make you do! So, that's my swooner, and I recommend it to the entire planet!

not really a song that makes you swoon but I thought I would mention it:

What's he so angry for? All i did was accidentaly run over his dog. Except change 'accidentaly' with 'repeatedly' and 'dog' with 'son'.

I saw a cartoon called "Just another war"

Its music was incredible, i sent the author an email, checked the credits 10 times, and added his sn to aim in order to find the song. apparently he made in tach class. it has no words, just amazing music, a mix between classical and techno, sounds wierd, but is great. ah yes, called String Mix
-"And you could fit so many cats up his *** it was CRAZY!"
-Keep my mom outta this and I'll keep this outta your mom!*Sniff* my mom is dead.
-Random, complicated, it's all good
