Another thing that occurs to me about food..
Make sure you do eat properly, and don't forget breakfast... This can be quite important in countering any kind of depression. Some time back I was going through a period of depression and I consulted a naturopath friend. The first thing he asked me was, "What are you eating, how much are you eating and when are you eating?" My long pause, followed by "Um.... well I have coffee in the morning..." was enough to highlight that I was not eating breakfast.. and in fact that I was not really eating anything until dinner.
My friend recommended I buy some good protein powder (like Whey-based), and suggested I mix it with stuff like fruit juice/yogourt/fruit etc. It is easy to digest first thing in the morning, quick to prepare... and you can just down in front of your computer or something without having to sit alone at a table.... The stuff is very good nutritionally as well.. and provides you with a good hit until at least the middle of the day.
Once I started doing this, I felt *much* better on every level.

One thing that never fails to make me feel better are my cats. They're always happy to see me and give lots of affection. So my advice get at least 2 cats!
Maybe this is the dumbest advice you could get, as I haven't yet really had time to experience the emotional backfire, but I say the best thing to do after splitting up or fighting with a girlfriend is to make up with your other ex-girlfriends. It's ****ing impossible to do when your attached, but is strangely appealing and rewarding when you're single.
Make up with your exes, and if you end up making out with your exes, you just have all the more fixing to take your mind off of misery.
That's actually a pretty smart idea. I tried it once and it worked wonders for depression at being single.

Mag: Don't remember much at all of last night do you?
Me: put simply.... No
Mag: From what I put together of your late night drunken ramblings? Vodka, 3 girls, and then we played tic-tac-toe and slapped each other around.

Credit goes to Beldin for the top one.
When all your dishes have been soaking in the sink for a month or two, and you're reduced to using old pizza boxes for plates, move your plates etc to the shower and rinse them off there.
When decorating, you may be better going for bright, cheery colours. Your environment has a big effect on your moods.
Re. getting over the ex, good luck. Keep as busy as you can though, being constantly occupied seems to help a little. If you play an instrmuent or paint etc. that can be a really good source of emotional venting, albeit possibly morbid in retrospect...
Catch up with your old friends, the ones you used to see before the girlfriend. You may have managed to balance the two, but if you're like any of my attached friends, who are around the same age as you, I doubt it.
Pets help too. A dog is probably a better idea than a cat, though I like cats myself.

Some people might suggest making out...
... but I suggest working out.
A good work out is good for your health, both physical and mental.
I get a kick out of releasing my angst that way... nah, I don't intend to have a steroid-buffed-like body
, I mean, imagine a buffed kender!
I just want to look fit and trim.
As for dishes, specially greasy ones, wipe them with old newspaper before washing them. Easier and less messier that way.

About colors.. Bright, cheery ones were mentioned.. Now this is going to sound weird but use pink. Studies show that Pink is supposed to calm emotions. This is why a lot of prisons paint interior walls pink and make the inmates wear pink. No, it's not to embarrass those manly prisoners, the government actually pays pshycologist big money to figure this stuff out.

Funny about the pink thing.... you'd think my reaction would be. Screw that but ... this is already on my living room wall..

I really dig the workout idea's. and food... I need to go shopping get a bunch of good food. Think I'll go hit up the farmers market later.
What juices and such are just sugar and what are good for you. I drink a LOT of pepsi and that kills me. I need to wind down pepsi and get used to drinking something else.
Thanks!
More advice!!

Don't run while holding scissors...
Watch out for rebound relationships, too, or at least be aware that that's what they are. Sounds obvious I know, but my dad's currently finding that one out the hard way.
And don't forget, at least you don't have a kid to worry about. At least, I hope not, if you do that's a sticky situation you're in.

Since the stuff available to you will be a bit different than up here I can't give you specific names. But, the ingredients should be listed on the container somewhere. If the first ingredient noted is anything like sugar, sucrose, dextrose, corn syrup and such don't buy it (in fact don't buy it if it contains any at all). Equally, don't buy anything full of unpronouncable ingredients...
It occurs to me, you may be able to get one of the fruit juices imported from South Africa, it is called Ceres, really tasty stuff. Though, where you live (Ca, right?), you should be able to get a good local equivalent as well.
Basically stick with the brands that have nothing but various fruit juices as their ingredients.... Erm... and definitely avoid soft drinks like Pepsi. If you get an urge for a soda, occasionaly treat yourself to one of the more natural varieties like Santa Cruz, Knudson etc. Or.. buy some sparkling mineral water (something like Perrier or San Pellagrino) and mix it with fruit juice.
btw, I normally hate pink or orange.. but that is a really cool poster!

In the US try Juicy Juice. It has 100% fruit jusce and they have some tasty blends. Prune juice if you can stomach it is very good for you(I can't). Avoind juices with Pineapple or Banana in them.

I second Juicy Juice.
However, if you want to find something else than that, particularly if price is an issue, then check the ingredients as well. Sure, may be a tad time consuming, but trust me, better safe then sorry.
To my experience, Wal-Mart's store-brand juices generally tend to whole juice rather than loaded w/ sugar and such. They also tend to cost anywhere from equal to less than the more established-brand juices.
