I never tested it myself to see if they do stack or not, but it seems like they do, i will test it today just to satisfy my curiosity.

Will the dragons allways go after the mages? That means it will just be to move your mage around while your fighters chops the dragon to pieces. Fire arrows do massive damage at high levels. I usually us them for instantly kill vampires but they are useful against almost everything. Sweet. :)

dragons are really sensitive towards "finger of death" all you need to do is get it in and that is done by 2xlower rec.+ breach works most of the time.
This weeks health tips:
Don't eat sharp objects it can be the cause of 7 out of 10 bad stomages.

after 2Xlower ressistance almost everything works against dragons - just the problem is to cast them from spell trigger i.e.

I've never cast Lower Res more than once...the problem seems to be that the silly mage can't cast it without walking straight up to the dragon. "HI THERE!! Just stand very still while I cast this bad spell on you!"

*wing buffet*

there's the rub...

I finally beat the dang thing, but to be so late in the game I think I ought to have done better...

Well, my first fight against Firkraag took at least 12 hours (can't remember the exact time it took) and during that time, I got him killed two times, both times the computer crashed...I think the other one was because I had left my connection on and it prompted me to cut the connection...
Centuries ago in England........It was an era of chivalry and magic. The evil Prince John unleashed an iron fist of tyranny upon the people. They called out for a champion.........one man answered that call. His name, was Robin Hood. Fearless in his quest for justice Robin Hood challenged the power of the high warlords. While protecting the helpless and the poor. Willing to face death for what he believed, along with the beautiful, lady warrior, Jaheira, the mighty Minsc, and the wise Keldorn. Robin Hood forged a legend that lives on today in............

The black dragon isn't that bad, buff up with a stoneskin, tenser and spirit armor. Set a contingency for stoneskin at about 50% is usually safest. Get in range, time stop from the scroll you get in the city and beat on him. Use a limited wish scroll and get another Time stop, don't forget to use improved haste from your ring. You should be fine.

I beat him on the second try. I didn't use this plan on the first attempt, just kinda waded in to see how tough he was. If you wanna save the time stop scroll you could sim it.

I don't know how good this strategy is, but here it goes...

have 3 elementals (i like the earth ones, for the damage and hitpoints they have) attack the dragon, the dragon should use his spells on the elementals, after that you can move in your tanks, after one is hurted badly pull him off, let a someone heal him/drink potions, and switch places, meanwhile use your spellcasters to use lower res. and magic missiles on the dragon :D :D :D

I killed him 2x before.
1st time
got Jaheria and Aerie to buff everyone up. Minsc and Valygar buff themselves. My thief and fighter just sat and freeloaded buffs =)
Got 3 fire elementals, and took my fighter, Jaheria, Minsc, and Valygar and elementals and stormed the front. thief was ranged support and Aerie just casted Magic Missile as many times as possible after using breach pierce magic and lower resistance. Pierce magic is great since it lowers resistance and dispells.

2nd time:
I only had 1 melee class, my fighter and he was an ownage machine since he was lvl 25 and was duel wielding equalizer and blackrazor(I imported him after I made main guy and started) He had 5 attacks per round with thaco of -16 and -12
Jaheria summoned 2 fire elementals, Aerie summoned Aerial Servant, and Mage summoned Nishuru.
Got my skald,mage,Aerie to cast lower resistance(each casted once), then dumped all my magic missiles, and casted breach/pierce magic/secret word when the dragon buffed, while my fighter and pets pounded away. forgot to use my thief until end and i messed up the backstab process by attacking with bow instead of sword=(

Secret Word is a great spell. It cancels 1 lvl 8 protection or lower. And its only lvl 4

It's hard to give advice on what you should do without knowing who you have in your party. However, I just beat Firkraag with my odd assemblage of a party. I fire protected everyone with clerical protection spells, and cast other prep spells (haste, mirror image, etc) before entering area. Upon sighting the beast my main PC (cleric), my stalker (similar to Valygar), Jaheira, and Aerie all cast the 1st lvl cleric spall Doom. It seemed to be cumulative, cuz every spell I cast after that worked. I threw summoned aerial servants and other beasts at him. I had my stalker attack from behind. I threw poison spells, magic missiles, acid arrows, rays of enfeeblement, miscast magic, and other fairly low level spells (except for insect plague) untill the beast stopped moving. Worked great. Easiest time I'd had with a dragon. And that was on hard difficulty level.

Ok finally teasted the Greater Malison thing myself and no they do not stack. However I still think the dragons saving throws arent low enough (IMHO ie it needs to be really rare when they fail a save VS anything).Am looking at the .cre files now to see what i can do.

Just added this stuff to my own post too,go check it out if you're still having trouble with dragons:

=====================
Dragon saving throws:
=====================

Paralyze/Poison/Death 3

Rod/Staff/Wand 5

Petrify/Polymorph 4

Breath Weapon 4

Spells 6

This applies to every known dragon in the game.BTW I've done some in-game testing too,and it seams that multiple Greater Malisons really do not stack :( Also note that all dragons are somewhat (varies 25 to 30%) resistant to all types of attacks (Slashing,Crushing,Piercing,Missile).Also,in addition of having a high Magic res. dragons are usually resistant/immune to "their own element",for example Firkraag is totally immune to fire,while the Adalon is immune to cold.I could post the complete stats for every dragon in the game including ability scores,resistances,treasure...etc. if anyone needs that.
There is no knowledge,that is not power...

@KensaiRyu- I would assume then that lvl 1 cleric spell Doom is not cumulative, yet after casting several (4) of these, the dragon failed MANY saves. Is this spell stackable where Greater Malison is not?
