Mage Armor & Bracers + 5 don't stack. BTW there is a ring +3 (Tolub has it). Interesting build, though. Have you considered Halfling, for add. dodge bonuses ? Or dwarf/gnome ? And how do you level up to avoid Xp penalties ?10 - base AC - no armor
02 - ring of prot. (best available)
05 - bracers +5
07 - WIS 24 Amulet of WIS +6
07 - DEX 24 (20 elf +2 Att. +2 Red Ioun Stone
01 - Dodge
04 - Mage armor & blur (from sorc)
04 - shield (crafted wand of shield)

...haven't found it - btw. don't remember who was Tolub ?
...with mage armor you might be right - never checked this - cause she was never hit
you can't avoid the exp. penalty completely:
1. rogue 1
2. monk 1
3. monk 2
4. rogue 2
5. fighter 1
6. paladin 1 - as the monk you have to take them in a row
7. paladin 2
8. paladin 3
...now the EXP penalty starts - wait until you have max. EXP until you level up - so you have the EXP-penalty only from level 9 to 10 !
...through the level squatting (7 instead of 8) you will reach the 10th level more or less at the same time as the rest of the party !
9. rogue 3
10. fighter 2 - you have to take this one last for imp. crit. (BAB 8)
EDIT: took elf cause of the +2 DEX, the immunities, and finding secret doors (the rest of the party is human - cause they need the extra feat and SPs)
.
Tolub is the river pirate boss you have to fight barehanded in Nulb to solve the "Pirates life for me" quest (Bertram)....haven't found it - btw. don't remember who was Tolub ?
Yeah, i normally do this with all my party. From lvl 3 to 4 the XP for enemies drop, so i hold leveling until i'm close to lvl 5. And do the same for the rest of the levels.....through the level squatting (7 instead of 8) you will reach the 10th level more or less at the same time as the rest of the party !
I really like your build...
Are you one of them guys fond of the Deep Gnome in IWDII ?
Cool tank

to be honest - I hate the Deep-Gnome builds in IWD2 - cause most of them are cheesy and just mistreated as a decoy...
...a tank should be able to deal damage and not only evade the enemy attacks
...and a PC-build should always make some RP-sense from my point of view...
...and I hope this LG "kensai" build (monk - paladin - fighter - rogue) not only makes sense for me
...if I had one more free feat I loved to give her a 2-handed katana with reach !
...now it's only a great sword

Useless Rogues
I do not concur that Rogues are useless in combat. They do lack hp and will not do well in a stand up fight with fighter types or slugging it out with tough monsters. However, a dual wielding sneak attacking rogue is an awesome offensive character.
The player must undertand the flanking rules and some of the skills and feats to make to make the rogue effective. The 3.5 players hand book states that you have to draw a line through your center the monster's center and your allies' center in order to flank a monster. When you do this, you can get the sneak attack bonuses. If you hit, thats worth up to 5d6 worth of sneak attack damage each hit! If you get 3 attacks, and hit three times at 9th level, that is 15d6 no save plus strength, magic, and weapon damage.
In order to max out a Rogue you can use two weapon fighting (for offense), and two weapon defense, and dodge for defense. Also the tumble skill is very important so that your Rogue does not take attacks of opportunity as he tries to get into flanking position.
Also, I like elves best for the rogue, The halfling works very well too, but the slower move rate sometimes takes too many combat segments to get into position.
may your skill prevail!
