It would be fairly easy, using IEEP, to edit the potion of healing item definition so that it only restored 1 HP. You could even make it a random effect so that you had a chance of not doing any healing at all. Or even a possibility of doing damage! That would add a little spice to the game, hmm?

Now that is a nice solution...before starting a game you can edit the help you get from certain potions...cool!!
The damage part could symbolise the danger in opening up a bottle in the middle of a sword fight hehe.

I like that. I rather wish Bioware had placed an option on the main menu allowing you to severely restrict potions, or (as you suggest) making the use of a potion in battle likely to cause a severe drop in defenses which leads to damage.
To the Righteous belong the fruits of violent victory. The rest of us will have to settle for warm friends, warm lovers, and a wink from a quietly supportive universe.

Exactly! Something similar to you not being able to change armor during combat o rest during combat. You can drink a potion but if you get hit during that round it will be a critical hit regardless if you are wearing a helmet or not, you may also drop the potion... well now I can implement those rules myself.
By the way, my no potions game is going really well. With these rules Jaheira becomes the most valuable NPC imo.
