Re: Competition Over, Voting Begins

Er frogus, you've got two colour figuratives in that form and no b&w non-figurative ;)

Best Black & White Figurative: This was the toughest choice, but I'm voting for...Gwally. Sorry seraph and frogus, that was a tough one...

Best Black & White Non-Figurative: Thantor

Best Colour Figurative: Ysh

Best Colour Non-figurative: Another toughie, but I'm going for Silur (sorry CE :p )

Best Photo (overall): Ouch. Bloody hell. Erm...Thantor's butterfly.

There were so many pictures I wish I could've picked... :( Can we have a plate competition? :p

Best Black & White Figurative: Frogus

Best Colour Non-Figurative: CE (Wow, did ya really shoot that yourself?)

Best Black and White Non-figurative: Thantor3

Best Photo (overall): CE: Flying birds and ice

Cool pics folks, I wish I had a scanner, I got some real nice pics lying around. :)

Best Colour Figurative: Grunty

Best Black & White Figurative: seraphshattered :D

Best Colour Non-figurative: CE (Sorry Kam...a close second IMO)

Best Black & White Non-figurative: Thantor

Best Photo (overall): CE's birds
(Strange how my favorite 3 pictures are all the Color non-figurative- CE's 1st, then Kam's second, then Silur's third)

Best Colour Figurative: Thantor – it has to be :D How the heck did she do that?? Bad breath? :D

Best Black & White Figurative: after much deliberation, I had to go for Gwally. His captures a mood of innocence that is open and infectious…one I cannot ignore. Though I was also struck by Seraph’s pic, though it did not strike me as so innocent (knowing the subject matter :p ) the reflective mood, was beautifully caught.

Best Colour Non-Figurative: This was a tough choice…I fell in love with HLDs pic…and the freedom of CE's...but it was the stark contrast of the freedom of nature and the depressing threat of confinement that drew me to Gruntboys pic. Sorry HLD and CE *hug*

Best Black and White Non-figurative: Thantor…The butterfly seemed so lost…

Best Photo (overall): hmm…this is hard…I think I will have to go for Thantor’s “Frontier” she spoke to me :)

I made a mistake :o I have had to alter my choice for B&W non-fig. Sorry. I loved CE's picture, but mistakenly voted it as B&W.

Best Colour Figurative: Ysh

Best Black & White Figurative: Gwally

Best Colour Non-figurative: I was first going to pick Silur's photo, but then I saw CE's and HLD's photos. I honestly think I should give it a tie between CE and HLD. Both are amazing. :) Kudo's to Kam, Silur, CE, and HLD for making the decision difficult though. ;)

Best Black & White Non-figurative: Thantor

Best Photo (overall): Gwally's Black and White Figurative, HLD's colour non-figurative, CE's figurative, and Thantor's Black and White non-figurative.

Best Colour Figurative: Gruntboy's "Hide and Seek"

Best Black & White Figurative: Frogus Guiness

Best Colour Non-figurative: Frogus arty blue stone :D

Best Black & White Non-figurative: Thantor's butterfly

Best Photo (overall): Silur's lava landscape (and I'm not partial because I was there, too ;) )

@Jaesha: Thanks :) Yes, I did really shoot it myself, but I had been travelling with a National Geographics photographer for some days, so maybe he managed to transfer something of his photo-eye to me :D

I really hope this doesn´t count as spam, but... wow! I´m amazed... I´d love to be a photographist or what it´s called, my dad is really good at taking photos too... Got some real nice ones from scotlands highland. How much does an average scanner cost, mind you?

All are very good!

But I liked Thantor's best of all.
Best Black & White Non-figurative: Thantor's butterfly

I'm not really into photo's, but that one just peaked out to me.
For the rest, I wouldn't know.
Good work all! :)

Best Black & White Figurative: Frogus' "guinness advert"

Best Colour Non-figurative: Kam's "Sunrise over Delphi"

Best Black & White Non-figurative: thantor3's "Butterfly"

Best Photo (overall): A tough one... I guess I'll vote for thrantor3's "Butterfly", although Kam is close second...

edit=> I said thrantor3's butterfly, rather than just thrantor3, for my best overall photo to aviod confusion.

If I can point Vicsun, that you may need to include a paticular photo. :)

Colour Figurative: HLD, 'Babysitting.'
Colour Non Figurative: Tough choice, Kam or Silur, I'll say Kam just because the burst of sun looks just awesome. Sorry Silur!

Black White Figurative: My Guiness advert, Frogus
Black White Non Figurative: Thantor3, Butterfly.

Overall: My guiness advert, Frogus.

My bit of spam in this folk's thread, but I thoroughly enjoyed these photo's and I hope that if we another one, I'll have something to give back to you all.

When does the voting end?

(By the way, as a participant in the contest, I am abstaining from the voting process).

HLD, you're such an untouchable, moral man.

It could be conceived that people could vote strategically...

THE VOTES ARE IN!

@Any mod, could you change the title again to Photo Competition Winners, please?

Here is the winners, and comments -

Best Colour Non-Figurative:
Well done CE, who beat her own husband  In the category with the most varied opinions...

Best Colour Figurative:
Ysh's charming baby-pic beat Grunt by an inch...well done Ysh.

Best B&W Non-Figurative:
Thantor won by a mile. Only one other person even got a vote (so well done HLD in the face of such steep competition) :)

Best B&W Figurative:
Closely fought between me and Gwally, but he edged it by a hair's breadth...Well done Gwally, and Seraph, who I thought was best

Best Overall Photo The big one...TIED BETWEEN CE AND THANTOR...I had half a mind to award it to Thantor for her better result in the category contest...but decided that that would be unfair....
I also considered mud wrestling...but it has been deemed unrepresentative of photographic skill in the past, so...it must go to a tie-break. Suggestions of how this should b conducted are welcome. The more novel the better... :)

It would have been very unfair indeed, your were very lucky in not choosing that option since Oxford is not very far away...
I suggest I and Thantor fight it out in a stripping contest. ;)
