The greatest QB to ever play football is Joe Montana. QB is not a numbers position, it not a position whose success is measured by winning percentage, number of victories or superbowl rings. It is measured by leadership and command and damn if there has ever been a QB with more command over his team. I know opinions are supposed to be out here but it had already been started.

My football Q&A is to find me the first receiver to score 5TD's in a game.

Three players have recorded 5 receiving touchdowns in a single game. They are:

Bob Shaw, Chicago (Cardinals) vs. Baltimore (Colts), 1 October 1950
Kellen Winslow, San Diego vs. Oakland, 22 November 1981
Jerry Rice, San Francisco vs. Atlanta, 14 October 1990

I did some more digging and found out that Dub Jones of the Cleveland Browns (version 1.0) scored 6 TDs (2 receiving, 4 rushing) against the Chicago Bears on 25 November 1951. Jones played halfback but was often split out at the "flanker" position, which would make him a pass receiver. Jones's six touchdowns are the most in a single game, a record he holds with Ernie Nevers (28 November 1929, Chicago Cardinals vs. Chicago Bears, 6 rushing TDs) and Gayle Sayers (12 December 1965, Chicago Bears vs. San Francisco, 4 rushing, 1 receiving, 1 kick return TDs).

A lot of people leave off the old-timers because it was before the "modern" era of pass happy offenses, fines for helmet-to-helmet contact and the AFL-NFL merger.
