So you got banned for having a song that sucks? What a great idea, I wish it was like that in all of the music industry :D :D

Seriously thought, I don't understand fully - was Denmark banned for sending a contribution that was so bad you are now punished, or does the Eurovision simply have some kind of rota where the country finishing last always make place for a new country?

Yes the last country is excluded from next year's competition and some other country takes up its place or something like that. This happens for the last few years only due to the inceasing number of europian countries applying for the contest and beacuse of a rule of Eurovision that says a maximun of 24 countries are permitted to enter the competition.

@Demis: Aha, thanks for clearing that up :) I haven't watched the for 20 years (yes, I'm that old, I was a kid when I last saw it) so I'm not entirely updated with the rules :D

Heh, the age comment was more to potential newer users here, who might not know I belong to the Ancients :D

It's funny with memories, when I think about it something that happened 20 years ago I might remember it as clearly as if was last week, but on the other hand, when I think of what I've been doing the last 20 years, it feels like it should be 50 years ago :D

I any case I think it's a pity that not all European countries can participate simultaneously - the rules could be simply be changed. Perhaps the show would be too long if that was the case, seing we now have 42 countries.

That’s great. Not every one has memories and experiences worth for 2-3 life times :D .

Should be nice but could you sit and watch 42 songs in a row which many of them will probably be bad. Not to mention the time-length of such a contest. I don’t think I could do that. :)

Wow 42 countries! I should probably need some geography lessons again. :D

I didn't know the rules worked like that... I suppose the scoring would take far too long if there were twice as many countries... Shame Britain came 3rd :D I wonder how they choose which country gets the coveted new place :D

I watched this a while ago, having no idea what to expect.

It was strange, daring and sometimes just plain scary. But I'll watch it again next time.

I have a question though, what happens to the winner. And what was with all those commercials. They showed the British version obviously. I got the odd smile when I heard we came third.

Obscurity, if the gods are smiling on us :D

I was quite amused when Terry Wogan (who does the UK commentary) mentioned that the guy who was hosting it is actually a Shakespearian actor :D

BTW, I don't know what commercials you're on about. :p

Oh, don't tell me you didn't see them. The ones about the beers and nightclubs, prior to each song. I was trying to piece together a connection between song and commercial, failed horribly.

Well actually I didn't see all the songs, so... no :p But the BBC isn't a commercial station, so they can't have been British ads ;)

This is getting pretty strange, oh and they had a British voice over. Explaining to us what we saw on TV during those mini segments

Well they can't have been adverts... they usually have some kind of filler stuff in between the songs, but they're not ads...

Filler stuff? I thought my 'mini-segments' sounded a lot better. But I guess that was it. Strange, very European :D

I didn't see it, but the BBC is a stately, non-commercial TV station that never has ads - either your weren't watching the Beeb, or you mistook their "filling stuff" like previews for their own programs for an ad.
