I sincerely hope our two in-house Ancients still know how to find their way home
As for me, I'm still looking for the glass where I put my teeth at night
Another little story about polite elderly people:
I was waiting for the tube at an underground station together with my ex. An elderly man sits down beside us, looks at me and says: "You are very pretty, my girl. Very, very pretty." Then he looks at my ex, and thoughtfully says: "But you are not. Not at all actually."
I started laughing. My ex did not.

While waiting to cross the street an old man said to me "i couldn't stay there anymore, i didn't want to take the pills anymore, they didn't like me, they tasted bad. I erm said "that's good" and then quickly moved across the street.

Of course! I've got one of those new maps made with moveable type. You just need to leave money at the right Saint's relic, prayer repeatedly, then ask somebody walking nearby if they know where you live. Works everytime!Originally posted by C Elegans

To the Righteous belong the fruits of violent victory. The rest of us will have to settle for warm friends, warm lovers, and a wink from a quietly supportive universe.

Seems like the elderly can get away with a lot of things.

Doc Waverly should learn to use these new tasteless pills that melts in the patient's mouth in a few seconds. I think the good ol' doc is starting to loose it.posted by Sleep
Perhaps it was DOc Waverly's pills he was referring to in which case you might be his only way back

That reminds me of my Step-Great-Grandmother. She's still relatively healthy, but her mind is pretty much gone. I've known her all my life, but in the past few years, when she greets me, she acts as if we've never met. Then, 5-10 minutes later, we "meet for the first time" again. It's very ackward.Originally posted by Yshania
This is not my experience, but one of a friend - since the recent discussion concerned the elderly
My friend was happily vacuuming her carpet one Saturday morning, when there was a knock at the door. She opened the door to find an elderly lady standing there in her carpet slippers. The elderly lady was well spoken and went on to explain to my friend that a good friend of hers had been taken into hospital some 5 miles away and would my friend mind so much to give her a lift to her family home close by to the hospital so that she may visit her son and his wife, who would then take her up to visit her friend. My friend said of course and helped this lady into her car and ran her five miles up the road. Eventually this elderly lady picked out a stately home and said 'here it is!'. Convincing my friend that she would be ok and her son would give her a lift home, my friend left the elderly lady here....
That night, there was a knock on my friend's door and the police invited themselves in to question her. It appears this elderly lady was a resident at a local home, did not know anyone in the area she had been dropped off in, did not have a friend in hospital, and had been found wandering aimlessly - my friend had a hard job convincing the law she had not abducted her!![]()
Hmm...a weird experience...I am a weird experience.
Having lunch with my parents, my ex-girlfriend, and her boyfriend.
Telling my parents that I'm bisexual. (If you think that would be ackward as a teen or adult, imagine doing so as a preteen.
When I was in 6th grade, a group of black guys drove by and shouted at me, calling me a "[removed]." I still have no idea why they did that.
Getting caught in the bathroom kissing another girl.
And perhaps the weirdest of all...
One time, back in summer of 2000, I was chatting with a friend on AIM. She would say something. Then, after reading what she said, I would be thinking about it. What I was thinking would suddenly be sent to her as if I had typed it and hit 'send.'

My Wierdest Experience!
I have always believed that the road less travelled was the best one to take and that certainly makes picking the wierdest hard. Reading through the above this one appeared the most synchronized.
My Grandmother (irracible scots woman) unfortunately suffered from Alzhiemer's towards the end of her life. Fortunately she lived in what amounted to a little 'village' in New Zealand and everyone knew her (this meant that she didn't need to go into a home till later).
One time I was visiting her and she said that we needed to do some shopping so we walked down to the local little supermarket (really a corner shop) and pick up some stuff. She won't let me pay (or carry the groceries) and as I go to leave the girl at the check out gives me a brown paper bag.
I look at her funny and start to ask and she puts her finger up to her mouth to say shhh, so I wait until my Grandmother has left. It turns out that the bag contains my Grandmothers dentures. She had left them on a shelf in the shop during a previous visit! - Curdis !

My grandfather has Alzheimer's and just misplaced his dentures. Cost $2900 for a new set of lowers. He has a tendency to *hide* things, and I guess he must have thought there was a good reason to hide them. (Probably afraid Fable would drop by and steal them). Their house is really clean, and everyone looked high and low for them. They are nowhere to be found.
My sister-in-law's grandfather was a little senile and half-blind. He lived in a little tiny town in Illinois. About once a month, he would decide to take a drive. Everyone knew him, so the cops there would just keep the roads clear while he drove all over the sidewalks and what not.

I was walking over to a friends house when a man came up to me and asked if I belived I was a vampire ( I wore a cloak at the time...). I answered that I certainly was no vampire and infact didnt belive in the existence of them either. He looked rather confused for a while, then asked if i wanted to see real vampires. I said i wasnt interested in vampires at all. He ignored that and said that if i only followed him down to the subway station he would be able to show me real vampires. When i still didnt show any desire to follow him he asked if i wanted to go "hiking" with him. When i kindly refused this aswell he left.
Not much of a weird experience perhaps but it was rather entertaining at the time.

I've had an experience similar to Dotties.
For Geography we once went to an excursion to the city centre to meet the Ministry Of Planning, and on the way I kind of got seperated with a few of my friends from the rest of class. We found the group in the end. But what occured in between kind was pretty freaky.
We took a short cut down an alley way, and I swear it looked exactly like one those dark alley ways you see in the movies. You know the type in which the shadows always hide the crazed maniac, who sits there waiting with a cleaver in hand. Sorry I'm rambling, just been watching Scream
Well anyway we took the short cut everything was ok, and just as we got to the end, a drunken bum literally jumps out the shadows. You can imagine the impact that would have on a group of lost school kids, we did what pretty much any other school kid would do in our situation, we turned around and bolted. I don't think I ever ran that fast ever again.
At the time it was pretty scary, but now we have a good laugh whenever we walk past the place.
