Being a bit of a military nut, no not the psycho type ;)

I managed to read a bit about the incident in Somalia before watching the movie. It was entertaining if somewhat one-sided. As you never find out why a whole city would turn against the Rangers and Delta's.

As for my friends  . We all live a considerable distant from each other. So we do have our quiet times. If your willing to drive down the Southern freeway that is.

It was one sided, military nut here as well.
More on strategy than actual specs and stuff.
The movie agreed could have been more balanced, but i don't find fault in that with what happened in the US.
I just don't to see rambo come out of retirement!!!!
That would be horrible!
Anyway i am off, feel like watching Me Myself and Irene. :D

I come to SYM to Lurk. :D :D :D

But on the serious side, I do find a lot of thoughtful(not being sarcastic) discussions in this forum, which is something rare nowadays in other forums where everyone flames everyone else. There is a lot of maturity (again, not being sarcastic) in SYM. But then again there's the drinking, the fish-slapping, and the pubs. It's all in good fun. I find SYM to be a balance between humor and seriousness.

I don't want to get dull.

Working in Thailand means that you have to put up with the fact that most of the people here do not speak English, and if ever they do, a very few of them could talk to you and engage in conversations beyond the "Hi's!" "Hello's" and "How are you's."

I love learning, and believe it or not, in this crazy party of the cyberworld you learn lots of stuff from people everywhere. :)

When I first came to Thailand I had trouble finding friends whom I can talk to, listen to new ideas, express oneself and even get into friendly debates and arguments. I had this need for "meaningful" conversations. Am happy SYM came my way.

I do have friends now and go out with them twice a month. I like this setup coz it makes me keep in touch with life outside work but at the same time I have my private time intact. My friends are, well, "very socially active." Being with them too much might get me into some interactions with the fairer folk --- then get to bite more than I could chew. ;) I'm happy though when I paint the town red with these dudes. :D

Workin' in a tech hotline, being bored to tears by those petty (l)users out there, makes you do the strangest things....

...even hanging around in disreputable company.... :D

But - no worries ! I'm here....

@Ned & Sleep: Know exactly what you mean. Been doing that for 6 months, but last week I finally had enough... Aint comin' back, no looking back

@CE: LOL :D

@Fable: Remind me to always bring some belladonna whenever I spam here...

@VD: Virtual drinks don't hit your liver half as hard :)

@Aegis: Eh... no, not really ;)

@Saturn: Avoiding homework, yes, typical escapism ;) Good thing friends at SYM come in all ages, RL is overrated *grin*.

@Em: :) Comforting? Know us? You sure? :)

@CM & Tamerlane: I wasn't aware that friends had some kind of lease agreement on your time. Sounds to me like friends that can't handle that you at times want to do something that excludes them aren't really that good friends, if at all friends. I'd say, be honest. The ones that are worth it will stick around.

@humanflyz: Completely agree. Only reason I'm here to begin with.

@Maharlika: Yes, but given the food (I hear) you can get in Thailand, I'd forgive them for not speaking english at all :) Glad to hear you found some friends. They do turn up once in a while, and usually where you least expect it.

@Beldin: Been there, done that, and I aint never going back! Prefer hiding in the shadows inventing more complex gadgets and services for people to call tech support about :D

Well, my CV and I still have a huge "avoidance" problem. I hope that if I don't look at it, perhaps it will write itself. Or maybe just go away and leave me alone. In the meantime, I invent millions of excuses to do other things. Even buying groceries and doing dishes is more fun... well, maybe not, but at least more "temporally confined" and less demanding :)

Actually it's not that bad...I've not only the hotline to handle, but also the privilege to order our onsite techies around ....it's nice to have grown men cringe at the mention of your name  ,

so - NO WORRIES - I can handle it, as long as I've Internet access here... ;)
