Shouldn't a board with mostly adults/late teens be more serious than a board with kids/early teens? ;)

No I actually don't think the board should "be more serious" because seeing as many of us are older than say, a pokemon-board, we already should act wiser without enforcing so many rules - as stated: "Let commen sence guide you" this IMO would be hard if majority were under 14-15 (no offense to any under that age ;) ) less so if majority were over say 20 :) (again no offense ment)

But we also discuss serious topics in here - but who can stand to be serious all the time, many people have demanding studies, jobs etc. where responcibility and serioucity is key factors - so people need to unwind.
This is also why I game - to unwind, so I think it is nice to come in here, and talk to people that generally share at least one of my interests - CRPG - and unwind.

though I think that board just didn't lend itself to the type of spamming we do here. :( </STRONG>
Well much "spamming" in here - is also just a case of "between game" waiting.
This way it's still "legal" to keep up with movement on the CPRG front, while having stimulating/serious etc. talks with other people.

I agree completely.

One thing to consider, the kids posting at the board I was at may be the future members of GB. Hopefully they will be more mature by then. ;) Seriously, Pokemon may be a bit younger gen directed, but it is still a serious RPG. You catch monsters and train them(allowing them to gain xp, grow to new levels, and learn new moves). Serious gamers in the game even go to the point of training in specific ways to gain better stats and such. It's quite sophisticated for a Game Boy game, imo. With the dedication I've seen for Pokemon, I would not be surprised to see these same kids getting into Baldur's Gate and other such games. I definitely hope they mature more, though before they reach this point. These people have big flamewars every few days(or they did back when I was still there). Sometimes they'd have about 5 different flamewars going, spread across half the forums. Alas, that was a board that started good but went down the drain before a year was over because of bad management. :( From what I have seen so far, Gamebanshee is much better managed than that board was. :)

Oh, yeah, I remember that board, SS.

I should remember it. I joined on the first day it came out.

Being an ignorant 13 year old I thought "Why not..." And surprisingly enough, I held status of highest post count for some time. But well, since I was still a junior high kid and Pokemon was so freaking popular then, I well... Liked it. But that board was cool for a while... when there were only older people there (more likely cuz little kids needed permission from their parents) but remember when we had the 8 year old girl join? Some of the "older" members had taken it upon themselves to PM this little girl about sex and stuff... which was part of the reason I left.

Another reason I left it was because of the power hungriness. Every little forum, there were like 30, needed 4 moderators. Right. I did my job and did it well as a moderator for over a year in the General board, but I was outrun by a stupid psychic bird with no feathers who wanted all his "friends" to have the power. And well now that I've spoken to the webmaster of that site on AIM, I'm glad I left

And yes, the Misc Board. "Misc Stuff", you do remember correctly that too, SS. I remember how everyone wanted to be mod there, but we ended up with a homosexual, an Icelandic, and a fanfiction writer. Mr. Firepokemon (the homo) was a good debator, and a very good moderator. He was a no-bull person, but he was soon kicked out by a 16 year old boy (how scary) who thought he was superior. The icelandic girl, PokeMasterMisty, was okay too, but not on often enough. The fanfiction writer, ThundertheTalkingRaichu, was a good person and a good mod, until he left for a week for summer camp. They demodded TTTR for unactivity, they just wouldn't listen. And this was all the work of the same "elected" administrator, Lugia007, the [removed], AKA the Bill Clinton of the boards (no offense Bill Clinton fans). Him and all his "friends" (who were mainly people who broke all forum rules like nuts) took it upon themselves to literally spam the place with topics about pornography, sex, and masturbation. Now this was a Pokemon board! I got REALLY ticked off at them because, well, I KNEW there was kids under 10 there, and lots of them. I was friends with one in particular, Hayden (Pikapuff) who was 10, and learned a lot of stuff from that group. They took over moderation of Misc board, and well, they literally killed TPM UBB.

I probably would have stayed if it wasn't for Trinity, Lugia007, Pokechamp, and the like. I know many people have left that place because of them, like Chicken Winger Mew (remember her? I still talk to her on AIM... ^.^)

Now I know most of you don't know who the heck most of these people are. But watch out for them.

Now the REAL reason I left TPM was somewhat related to them. It was more or less a Christian-bashing time for them where all the administrators took it upon themselves to invite my good friend Justin (a very devoted-to-God person) into a chat room with me and just well... bash God. So I left. If I were to look back and say if I knew any good people from TPM, they would have to have been Sailor Saturn, Random Shadow, Saria and Beth (I think Beth is BlazingThunder or something like that here... I really don't know. Sorry ^_^; ;) . TPM was screwed because bad people sucked up became powerful took over and kicked everyone out.

Now at THIS UBB, I see a lot of difference. The same "bad" topics are discussed in a good way. People don't participate in cyber sex at SYM. They mention it, but we don't go into absurdly graphic detail that is literally just trying to offend somebody. What I like about this misc board better is everyone can talk about anything and people will respect you for what you believe in.

Also Sailor Saturn was the only time I've seen a flame war here ^_^;;;

 I didn't know about that event.

I liked fp. He was a good moderator, for a while. Then he went through some...personal problems and kinda lost it there for a while.

Mmmm, yes, I remember her. She is one who I wanted to get to know better. ;) :D

Is she the one who, after leaving that board, went from straight to bisexual to homophobic?

Beth doesn't go here. Her friend(and fellow gang member?) Panther does. He rarely posts, though. His SN here is Panther Blkct, IIRC.

I've been reading the Roleplaying In Atkathla topic. Omar, Ubik, Waverly, Weasel, adn the others ain't as graphically sick as some of those people at TPM were. (Note: That's a compliment to Omar, Ubik, Waverly, Weasel, and the others)

Erm are you sure you want to be complementing Omar? That could lead to disastorous consequences :D
