We have a selection of BBC radio stations... I listen to Radio 1, they play quite a variety of new music so it's not so bad. :) But I still listen to CDs more than the radio.

Non-commercial radio is great--I just wish more college stations existed, instead of the endless stream of National Public Radio stations with their canned classical, canned public affairs, "lifestyle" news shows and safe specialty programs.

It probably depends on the circumstances ;) And it's not the same quality, it's compressed, there has to be something lost... Plus my computer doesn't sounds as good as my hi-fi ;)

@Georgi, I've managed public radio stations that were staffed and produced by dozens 60's-types, each with amazing egos, who thought they could do no wrong, and for the most part hated one another. They viewed on-air errors as proof of their individuality. Trying to get them to work towards a single goal was like herding cats.

Anything you could throw at me after that would be a joy. ;)

MP3's are actually the best quality out there when it comes to music. Something about their digitol nature I believe...

we're gonna be getting Digital Sattelite Radio soon. It's gonna suck!!!! Going to have to pay for the programming(just like Direct TV  ). It will be quite a while before they phase out public radio though(thank goodness!)

well, my thought on the matter is that if a band makes a good album, they deserve my money. I pay for all the albums of my favorite bands. I won't pay for two or three songs, however. If a band puts out an unimaginative album with a few hits mixed in with crap, i'll download the hits. of course, societies idea of a hit and my idea of good music often don't line up.

by the way, mp3 is better quality than typical CD audio. i have no idea why, but i can easily hear the difference listening.
