Although, it doesn't quite work well quoting randomly in public.

*sighs* Zeppelin and Dave Chappelle don't work well either.

I think Chappelle does, the quotes from his shows are great to throw out every now and then:
"Now why would I put my feet up on that man's couch, man, I got more sense than that... Yeah I put my feet up on his couch."

"Hey baby, go home! It's three o clock in the mornin!" "I'm selling weed (expletive deleted)! I got a wife and three kids to feed!"

"Officer I'm sorry, I didn't know I couldn't do that..."

Yeah, Zeppelin doesn't translate well. Maybe "Fool In the Rain" is good on occasion, but I put it to you to find a good social situation to quote from "Black Dog" or "The Lemon Song".

Chappelle, I used something terribly offensive, which was amusing to drunk me.

Zeppelin, I went with "Shake for me, girl. I wanna be your backdoor man." wasted leaving a movie theatre. Didn't go over well...

Now, NIN, that's gone well for me. Ever had a girl strip to "Reptile" for you, or sing "Closer" to you?

Not so much, as just because I've heard The Downward Spiral rarely means the girl has too. I'm not a Trent Reznor fan, but he doesn't get the attention he probably deserves.

Actually, you'd be surprised what has worked for me. I've said worse and gotten some fun out of it. :laugh:

I'm not a huge fan or anything, Downward Spiral is about the only album I actually enjoy the majority of the songs on. However, fun times with Reznor fans.

I should get to bed, big day and early start tomorrow.

No no no. Breton traditional music. 18 bombards, 10 sets of bagpipes, 4 snare drums, 2 floor drums i don't know the name of, a big base drum, bongos, and a bazuki. Music to make human sacrifices to. Stravinsky eat your heart out

That's for tomorrow. I've seen this band before but they were like - english country dance society. All in uniforms but with this primal music. They have been coming here each year for a while and every year they get less hidebound and they let the music speak more. Now they have only half traditional costume and they dance. You can see yourself on the top of the tumulus, making the cut. Takes you where the Rite of Spring does, only more so

It's rewarding to see a group evolve like that: makes you believe in the life-changing effects of music and how rewarding it can be if the individuals are willing to listen to themselves. Rewarding for the artists themselves and, more importantly, the audience. Music isn't meant to be played by people who don't believe in it. Sounds like they do.

Oh Tony, that's what all the folk is about. People learning and loving it. We had other things before that tonight. Back o the Moon and Breabach and others. We were dancing - relatively competent Gay Gordons and shambolic eightsome reel with 5 Germans who had no idea. It was fun. But Bagad Kemper was music. I am not able to explain. I couldn't even do that sober.

Well good, I'm glad you enjoyed yourself. What you've just said about folk music sounds quite similar to how I feel about blues music. Though I'm not a folk fan, I get it. Feel free to preach, however, because I'm a willing student.

I was just saying you have my permission if you feel so inclined and I'll gladly listen: music's a big thing to me and I'd like to learn something if I'm presented the opportunity. I do like some folk (Dylan, Townes, Kris, Woody Guthrie) but I won't sit here and say I'm an expert. That's why I'm willing to learn some. Please, that's not what I meant at all

Me? I'm fine: just got back from the Detroit Auto Show which is always fun. I'm not a car buff, but I always enjoy checking out what's new. Listening to Miles Davis right now, feeling very mellow.

Mellow is good. I like all of the people you mention but as song writers. I like words. But real folk is the traditional stuff and the fusion you get now from different traditions. I don't think you can persuade anybody to music and I know it isn't popular here. But I love this stuff. I don't really understand why anybody else doesn't. Only the metal fans think the same, so duh

er...I rather think I'm beginning to sound like a Queen fan. This is probably not good *looks embarrassed*
