I do, but I choose not to reveal that information so that I may dominate the races for the next few months... :D Also, I feel like being a jerk. :D

Hello Ysh, you look great in that red bikini :D How are you doing? Starting to get tired? Remember, it will be your birthday for another 16 hours, it's only just over 8pm GMT :D

@Ysh: So assuming you were born in the GMT timezone, it's still a few hours left to your aging :D

The leather bikini is a handmade piece my designer friend made for me :D I'm doing fine, relaxing since it's Mayday today. (I've also heard it called Labour Day, or am I confusing things?)

@CE - yes, I was born in GMT and am still a year younger than I will be in a few hours! :D

LOL! :D
Yes, Mayday is also called Labour Day over here - and we have the opportunity to vote for our local councils tomorrow. The official holiday is Monday, though...it is always the first Monday in May :) So is it a holiday in Sweden then?

@Ysh: No, it's not a holiday here on Monday, Mayday is always celebrated 1st of May regardsless of what day of the week it is. People usually dislike when 1st of May is on a Saturday or Sunday, when you shouldn't have worked anyway :D

So what have you been doing today? Big party? :) Have you got any nice gifts?

He was born on Friday :) He is 8 weeks premature, but doing very well. ;)

LOL! :D As soon as I got to the hospital I was pounced on. I was asked for blood as part of a research program funded by the British Heart Foundation that is looking into possible genetic links between pre-eclampsia (what my sister has) premature birth, and later life hyper-tension. As it turned out today, my blood pressure was higher than my pre-eclamptic sister's! :D :D (it must have been the sight of the syringe, and all those vials I had to fill for the hospitals taking part - then the back ups if the first were lost in transit :rolleyes: )

I cannot remember the name of the research...it sounded like Gopec?

8 weeks premature is usually not a problem nowadays :) I'm happy to hear he is doing well :)

LOL :D I would guess you went to a large hospital then, it's quite common that people get jumped by researchers, especially at university hospitals :D A quick search made me immediatly familiar with the project they are running :D The project is indeed called GOPEC, an acronym for Genetics Of Pre-Eclampsia Collaborative. Nice to hear you are doing your duty for medical research Ysh, although I fear your measurements may cause confusion among the reseachers :D

Thank you! :)

I got it right? :D LOL! :D it is a big hospital - Addenbrooks in Cambridge...but many other UK teaching hospitals are involved too :) *grins* they would mix my blood up with my sisters! except she had a transfusion - so is somewhat diluted, they have to bear this in mind ;)

A friend of mine had a child a few weeks premature but unfortunately became jaundiced. Fortunately she was looked after very well and is now a thriving baby. The interesting thing is that this baby is the quietest baby i have ever been witness to, it hardly makes a sound :)

What is jaundiced?

I'm happy to hear she is doing fine now :) My best friend's son, who is now 2, was extremly silent as a baby, I certainly hope I and my hubby will be as lucky :D

PS Sleep: my comp is working fine again, except the mail is malfunctioning :mad: I really hope the ADSL we've been waiting for since last autumn will get installed soon! :mad:

Jaundice is common :) My nephew has just finished with the ultra violet treatment. My own two were full term, and both jaundiced - my son was so bad he was referred for blood tests, but then prescribed lots of sunlight ;)

I am glad your friends baby is doing well :) A cry from a prem baby is a gift, IMO, but I am sure the novelty wears off after a while! :D

I am not sure exactly what it does, it is due to a lack of vitamin D, i think Ysh will have an explanation of what it is.

Okay :) Thanks for the heads up :) Talk to Ysh about Adsl :eek:

@ysh, that is what they said, the crying at first was the most happy time for them :) I imagine it is common due to out poor weather in this country?

@CE LOL! re Addenbrooks! :D

Jaundice is yellowing of the skin due to the body's inability to get rid of bilirubin in the blood :) It can indicate a liver problem, hence blood and urine tests.

*hug* you are trying for a baby? :) Best wishes! :)

Re ADSL - I am on dial up again tonight :rolleyes: :rolleyes: but am too happy to care! ;)

@Sleepy :) My sis was told by the midwife whose job it was to 'run' the baby from the surgeon to the paediactric nurses to not expect a cry - early babies do not always cry. He screamed the whole way!! :D

And for those who know about apgar scores (marks out of ten for skin tone, muscle tone, heart rate, breathing etc etc given after 1 and 5 minutes) this little boy scored way higher than my daughter who was 'carried' for a further ten weeks ;)

So all in all a pretty healthy baby :) It must be a large relief....althoug has you say the crying will soon become inconveinient to say the least :D It is intersting to note that out of the last 15 babies that have been born to people i know, 1 has been on it's due date :o

@Sleepy - LOL! :D

Not the bevvies - thank you very much!! :rolleyes: :D I have had my concerns of my nephew and sister allayed ;) It turns out my sisters condition was very serious, we did not find this out until last night, but she is well now and hopeful to be out by the weekend ;)

It is a relief - thank you ;) btw - only 5% of babies are born on their due date...they come when forced or when they are ready! :D
