Can anyone place this npc?

Post by Kyndig »

I was heading towards talendor to get the moon bridge code. taking a break from my mass slaughter of moonbeasts and fire drakes and other critters.
and some barrowgrims soldiers and wizards and goblins and goblin mages came up to greet me to talendor.
no problem I thought.
then one of the barrowgrim soldiers turned out to be a named npc called Captain Durreck. I haven't seen any mention of him in any of the quests. so who is he? if he is a quest guy I don't know about it. and i'm pretty sure I haven't started it yet if he is.
if he isn't a quest npc then who in tarnation is he?

Anyone got any ideas?

I wondered about that too when I first encountered Durreck. I don't think he is connected to any quest. At least not one I have encountered. Usually those type NPCs don't spawn until you actually get the quest, sort of along the idea of somebody you have to kill to get a class promotion or another type of guild quest.

There is another similiar battle when you first enter Bolen Fields, with a Captain somebody or another.

thanks kathy, I just wanted to make sure I hadn't accidently started or run into a npc that was for a quest I hadn't started yet or hadn't finished yet stepwise. If he is just a random spawn and not a guild quest npc or anything I'll just kill him and see if he drops anything different then the barrowgrim soldiers that he looks like.

the only named npcs I came across in the quest section that might be him under a different name are for the guild of fighters class quests and for that guild's second quest. the maurader , knight and lord and deathlord quests especially and the second quild quest for that guild. and they are all in other areas.

and the only time I see a quest mentioning a named npc that is located in the lands surrounding Talendor is the Celestial Order's Class quest to become Paladin, when you must fight the warrior of the unholy light. So I have no idea where this Captain Durreck came from lol. Guess I'll just feed him to the piranhas and bloodgills.
thanks again.

I don't think he is anybody to worry about regarding a quest. I think the walkthrough was updated for the Collector's Edition, so if Durreck isn't there I think he is just a bad guy with a name.

Or, perhaps he is part of the "welcome to Talendor" commitee... Such friendly folks around those parts. :p

He's a nobody

You're right Kathy he is a nobody just a named barrogrim soldier with higher than normal hit points and a nastier sword same as the one behind the tents in the Bolen Feilds and he will drop a nice +1 fangtip blade and some chain mail and a good helm.
