Let me guess... you got win64bit?

Hehehe...
http://www.planetamd64.com/
should be your place to ask for help then^^

You need to remove the CD check in the msi file or simply get the replace file from planetamd64...

and if you have and older version of win64bit then you have to get the new version as well.. that means installing win64bit all over though. it takes a while but its worth it ^^ just remember to save and copy to a floobydisk any drivers win64bit might not have..

Of cause thats just assuming thats your problem but it does sound like thats your problem ;)

btw if you dont have win64bit it is free as long as it is in beta version :D download directly from microsoft website ^_^ what you dont want a BETA version of windows? It is NOT any different from any other windows version expect with this version there are a ton more help to be found :P

Nah, actually I have Windows XP Home Edition. And, as far as I know, only Windows XP Professional Edition gets the 64-Bit version.

Oh well sorry if I cant help... maybe useing wonderfullIcon next time you install something would be a good idea ^^ that program keeps track of everything you install so it is easier to uninstall again.

hmmmmm.. most newer windows version have a function to go back to an older copy of your windows... say before you uninstalled the game if thats not to far back that is...

It should be quite simple after you found where it is. You just pick the date of the time your windows was to your liking and windows should completly remove everything you (or others) have done to your windows up till then.

You probely dont want to do that but it could be a way to fix it if you would do that..

other than that... you would have to remove everything in the registration database concerning vampire the masquerad and troika... can be quite a mess not recommanded for unexperienced folks since it can force you to format all and reinstall everything from scratch! (Which is actually the best solution anyway if you can reinstall and store everything you got)

btw, you dont need windows XP professinoal edition or any version of windows at all to get windows 64bit edition.... an 356 days evaluation copy is free from microsoft site, and what do you know when they updated to new version of the 64bit you got yourself another 356 days evaluation free :)

Yeah, I recently downloaded some clean uninstall programs. Wish I had done so before I had this problem.

I know but I turned off System Restore to save space. (My hard drive doesn't have much space.) But that doesn't matter anymore (see my following post).

After days of trying to get this game to install I can gladly say that I succeeded. For anyone who might have this problem, this is how I finally got the game to re-install:

Since I couldn't get the game to install from the splash screen I tried to install the game from the hard drive by copying the contents of the first installation CD onto a folder (which I named "VTMB_1") on my desktop. When I tried running setup.exe from my hard drive (instead of my CD), the installation started working.

However, since I hadn't placed all of the correct files in the correct places in that folder, I got an error message during the install about a source file not being found. So I went back and made a copy of each CD in a separate folder on my desktop. ("VTMB_2" for the folder with the contents of installation CD 2 and "VTMB_3" for the folder with the contents of installation CD 3.) Since the folder with the contents of the first CD (i.e. VTMB_1) was the main installation folder I copied and pasted all of the WinRAR archives from the second and third folders (VTMB_2 and VTMB_3) into it. Next, I browsed the Setup folder in VTMB_2 and copied and pasted the appropriate files into the appropriate places in the Setup folder in VTMB_1. I did the same thing for VTMB_3. It should be noted that not every file in VTMB_2 and VTMB_3 needed to be copied and pasted into the Setup folder of VTMB_1. In fact, if I remember right, it was only the sound files from those folders that I needed.

When I ran setup.exe from VTMB_1 the game installed perfectly (and it didn't ask me to insert CD 2 or CD 3). I can't guarantee how stable the game will be by installing it this way but it seems to be working for me right now. (Also note that installing this game will not make the game not require the CDs anymore; this installation guide only serves to help those who are unable to install the game from the splash screen.)
