I just got Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines the other day and so far I think its an excellent game, except two main things, 1. The skipping it sometimes does, but I've heard thats to do with the engine and can't be fixed right now, and 2. The LoadTimes, this game takes ages for me to play just because every few seconds it loads for 5 minutes. And that's not an exageration, once when it was loading a main hub I went downstairs, had a drink, a yogurt and got a bag of popcorn, then came back upstairs and it was still loading. Even the 'Gallery Noir', a little box of a room takes 2 minutes minimum to load. This is getting relly anoying, can anyone help,
I have:
Pentium 4, 2.4GH
ATI Radeon 9600xt, 256mb
256mb ddr ram,
2gigs virtual memory,
The only thing I can think of is the ram, its below the minimum required for the game(384mb), but every other game I've ever played that I hadn't enough ram for played fine, does anyone have any ideas, please?

It's your RAM, your RAM, you RAM and your RAM.

I agree that your ram is the bottleneck.
One thing that you could do is to increase the cluster-size of your harddisc.
My swapfile is on a separate partition with a 64k cluster setting and the game ist on one with a 16k cluster setting. This helps a lot to reduce harddisc access which cost a lot of time.

Swapfiles helps most if they are on differnt drives (not just partitions - but drives)
Other then that - I'd simply let your operating system control most of thoese settings for you.
Investing in more RAM would be the best choice for you in my view, not only for this game, but for furture applications/games.
512MB at least would be good for your system, and in this day and age where RAM is relative cheap - I'd say you better spring for 1 GB.

Help me out here, your swapfile is the same as your virtualmemory right?
If so, i have 2HD's (not just partitions).
I have windowsXP installed on C and the game on D
Both drives have lot's of space left, so no problem using alot.
How can i best set my virtualmemory?

Right click on My Computer, then go to Advaned > Performance options (not sure about the English, I'm using Chinese Windows). There should be an option to change virtual memory. I've heard it's best to set it to a fixed size, and if possible, on a different physical hard disk from Windows.
However, virtual memory isn't very helpful, since hard disks are about 1000 times slower than RAM.
