i was soloing with my precious monk in the area right next to the Temple where Lareth leads you to an ambush. i was fighting the guys who are supposed to ambush me, having a lil bit of trouble with my monk. the witches kept casting spells on me and i resisted every time but once. i looked to see what hit me and it turned out it was a Bull's Strength spell!
. wow that turned my monk into a tank and let me finish them off quick n' easy. how intelligent is that? lol

It's a shame theres so many AI bugs. In said temple fight, the wizard there cast 'enlarge person' on me !?
Some else mentioned in the forum that the C08 patch actally is responsible for some of these errors, but it fixes so many other thinngs that i can't play without it.

Yes, but i remember that before the patch, the Wiz cast 'Enlarge' on itself, not my PC !!!Originally posted by Raumoheru
in a way enlarge person is a bad thing
makes ya easier to hit
I used Enlarge a lot in the beginnig due to STR increase and Reach, but never anticipated an enemy casting it on me. !
For me it was a free spell, and it worked to my advantage. Said wizard also, in the same fight, put 'Bull's Strenght' upon one of my Chars. !?!?!
So it seems to me (although i said otherwise in a deff. thread) that the AI is broken. Who's to blame for this ???
Anyway, the game is more fun to play with the patch(es), before that is was a real HORROR-BUG Feast...

We ran into a similar bug in the system. Our Wizard kept casting Acid Arrows at the Cheif Troll. We couldnt figure out why it was doing Zero Damage.
After we beat the bloody Troll and we looted him. (He has some nice stuff btw. ) We found on him this really cool green belt. We didnt know how to use it nor did we even care but it didn't showed as being a magic item so we sold it for a good chunk of change.
However fumbiling through the net we found out that the Cheif Troll stuff was actuallly a bugged. Including his belt which is suppose to be shown up in the game as a Magic Item. Even further to put it too a point the belt is a belt of resistance to all acid damage......Go Figure.

Where'd you read that? Oohlgrist's belt isn't supposed to have any magical effects, to the best of my knowledge...
Edit: by the way, I believe some of the major AI problems are due to chunks of code removed by the guys who made the Co8 patch. Before the patch, bugbears would trip and flank you and enemy spellcasters would use their support spells properly (i.e. on allies).

I read it on serveral other boards who listed a whole host of problems.
Could be very well the reason why the Black Smith is willing to buy that stuff from you for a whole lot of money.
Which is understandable that he would have a belt like that. I mean the other trolls have those minor fire restisance rings. And the dang Juggernaunt had a spell resistance of I think it was 8.
In any case thats what I read.
In another point. Before we installed the CO8 Patch I clearly do not remeber any BugBears tripping are party or anything of the such....Heh Weird.

Bugbears always had a go at tripping me before the Co8 patch, and I can replace the old protos.bak and they'll start doing it again. Use suggestion on a bugbear and see for yourself, they all have improved trip right there in their feats.
As for Oohlgrist's belt; the reason is worth so much, I'd say, is because it's made of silver with four emeralds set into it. It's not magical in the original ToEE supplement, and since there's no way to wear a belt in this game, I sincerely doubt it has any sort of magical qualities.

Belt Slots:
In the game, there are only two (AFAIK) characters able t use items in their 'Belt' slot, the Thief; with his/hers Thieves Tools, and the Bard with his instrument.
The wandering bard, Zaxiz, does not have an instrument, and therfore gets a -2 penalty on all Perform checks, even if he's scripted as a 'singing bard', not a musical one.
As for Thieves Tools, they can be equipped by anyone and if a PC (like a Cleric) has a rank in a thieving skill he will get a bonus on his score.
The belt from Oohlgrist (best fighter in the game, can't die) was supposed to be equippable in the belt slot, as was other belts and items in the game. However, these (all) items are bugged.!
The C08 team might have done some bunders with th AI (i don't know for sure), but at least they've made availble items for all Chars. to use in their 'belt' slots, namely the 'ION STONES'.
I'm sure there'll be a fix for this, and if not we have to do it by ourselves. One could always overwrite the 'protos.bak' file to the 'protos.tab' file to get the thingd right.

The background icon for the 'belt' slot you mention looks more like a gemstone than a belt to me, I'd have assumed it was a miscellaneous item slot. Musical instruments go in the slot above that one.
If I had to hazard a guess as to the reason for all of this, I'd say Troika left belts as unequippable due to the fact that none of the belts in the game had any tangible effects.
