I am not 100% sure, but I believe there is no multiplayer mode. You have the option to create between one and six charactors for the game. If you like BG 1 & 2, you probably will like IWD2. Have you tried Icewind Dale one and Heart of Winter? I really Like IWD2 for the fact that it uses 3rd ed. rules. Great change. I also feel very enveloped by the plot of the game. Lots of hack and slash. I currantly running through the game for the second time with the same charactors, but in Heart of Fury mode wich is tougher. I know I rambled on, but I hope this helps,
Got to find the Queen of all my dreams,......
noob question - plz advise
There is a multiplayer mode which is exactly the same as the multiplayer mode in BG2. I played both of these games with two friends over TCP/IP, so I know.
There is still a maximum of 6 characters, and anywhere from 2 to 6 players. For example, if you had 3 players, the number of controlled characters is entirely up to you. Could be 3 chars (1 for each player), could be 6 (2 for each), but could be 4 (2 for one player, 1 for each other player). Anyway you like it is fine.
I would not recommend any of these games in multiplayer. You do exactly the same things as in single, but everyone has their way (for example, my priests were always buffers/healers, while my friend always used offensive clerics), so there tend to be conflicts of interest. And absolutely do not play with people who don't know the game (unless you know they will be able to follow you through the game without too much arguing).
