Something else that made my day

Post by HighLordDave »

One of the girls in my office is off on medical leave, so the rest of us have split up her duties and today was my day to sort through the departmental mail for her.

We get a bunch of mail each day, and because the people in our mail room are generally nice people but not rocket scientists, we get a fair amount of misdirected mail.

I picked up one letter and it was addressed to a "Betsy M. Bonken". There's no Betsy in our office, so I hollared out to no one in particular, "Who's Betsy Bonken?"

The room fell into a stunned silence. I thought that someone might know which department Betsy worked in, but it turns out that people were taking their pick of flippant replies.

Finally, someone shouted out, "I don't know, but I hope there's a video."

There's really not any point to this story other than to share a laugh with you guys at my expense.

ROFL!!

That would fit quite nicely as one of Bart's prank calls on The Simpsons!

Thanks HLD. :)

LOL :D Thanks for the story. Self-embarrassments are the most entertaining and fun things to talk about when among friends. Especially if its a comical story.

Its like you were Moe the bartender from the Simpsons in this situation, eh? :D ;)

EDIT-I guess Flibbo beat me to the comment. :D

The scary thing is that there really is a Betsy Bonken out there somewhere (or she's the victim of a horrible typo). Isn't that a name you'd want to marry out of?

I do know of a woman across campus whose name is Sharon Peters. The first time I met her, I had to get someone to confirm for me that was really her name.

Man #1: Who's that?

Man #2: She's Sharon Peters.

Man #1: I tried that once, but my wife got pissed, left me and took the house plus half my stuff.

No, a "peter" is slang for male genitalia.

4k in 3 months. :D But most of it is in the bar threads. Probably around 2k in the bar threads and 2.5k in all other threads. Thats how balanced my posts are to give you an idea. Most of the things in the non-bar threads are informative (except for this one) sometimes I even get a couple of long posts in too! :D
