How many Gamebanshee'ers are watching the Worldcup now?

Anything goes... just keep it clean.

Nah, seriously speaking, if Zidane recovers and doesn't suffer another injury, the French could probably make it to at least the quarterfinals :)
But of course :D

The thing that a lot of people are forgetting is that the French team had only lost 3 matches in the past few years prior to the upset. Like the champions that they are, they will bounce back. ;)

I was saddened to see how they had come to rely so heavily on Zizou. A stark contrast to the way they played in the previous WC.

@Tamerlane-I am actually quite surprised that they must have Zizou out there before they can start playing well, seeing as to how their whole squad is filled with fantastic players by their own right :(

Thats my point exactly, they supossedly had the best midfield in the world. But they just don't gel cohesively, I just guess thats the price to pay, when your at the top. Other teams know your game plans inside out.

They also have possibly the best strike force in the world(the top 3 strikers in 3 different leagues), and yet they couldn't score a goal. Then again, perhaps the public are putting too much pressure on them

Being a huge fan of Juventus, I have seen Trezeguet play, and I also keep a slight interest in Arsenal games, where Henry is awesome. Plus I've heard great things from my relatives in France who have seen Cisse play, but a strong strike force is pretty much nothing with out a successful supply route through the mid field.

And thats where Zidane would usually come in. I disagree with the selection of Djorkaeff in his place. I would of preferred seeing Petit in the attacking midfield role, or at least give it to Dugarry. But then again, I'm not the coach  :D

EDIT- Your right about the pressure though ;)

True, but the strikers didn't perform that well against Senegal. That and the fact that the Senegalese keeper had a great day on the field is probably why they lost

I think the French also miss having Robert Pires on the wings :(

I'm eager to see how they will handle a strong midfield squad like that of Uruguays, especially to see how they'll contain Recoba.

This guy murdered us (Aus) in the qualifiers. :(

Yeap, Recoba is brilliant when he's in the mood :) .I'm surprised that they took him out against Denmark, even though it looked as if he's the one doing the most damage out there

I was actually talking about myself :o ;)

I remember the France game vividly, as well as that shocking game between the Saudi's and Germans. But the rest is just a blur...

Tuning in has been a pain in the arse here in the US. Games on at all kinds of weird hours. But, that's to be expected when they play on the other side of the globe. I've caught very little unlike '98 and '94 (go figure). I have caught a lot of highlights but watching goals and corners doesn't do a match justice. You need to watch the full match.
Crush enemies, see them driven before you, and hear the lamentations of the women.

Ah, thats just how I felt in 1998. I was too little to watch the 94 ones, but thankfully we have it all on tape. I guess its too early to expect them to schedule replays then.
