Yes, I know, and whimsy is among my cultural traits.

To the Righteous belong the fruits of violent victory. The rest of us will have to settle for warm friends, warm lovers, and a wink from a quietly supportive universe.
I'm pretty sure most people in the US couldn't find Europe! A survey done a while back found that a significant proportion of them couldn't point out central america on a globe & if they can't find what's on their own doorstep ...Originally posted by fable:

Unfortunately true. This is the ultimate consumer society (though others are heading this way), where all that matters is instant gratification. Since expanding your horizions for the sheer joy of it isn't instantly filling, why bother?I'm pretty sure most people in the US couldn't find Europe! Yeah, I know. I always disliked american people...Originally posted by fable:
Well, Killermachine, history can be a powerful motivating force, especially when politicians use it to make people do very irrational things as a group. But at least you have a sense of history. In my country, the USA, they never really developed a sense of history. And when the virus of modern consumerism came along, claiming that the past was worth nothing unless you could market it for nostalgia, it found a ready host in the USA. Not only does this country have no past, it find the concept of a past either stupid, or incomprehensible.
I'm sure most people in the US don't even know where Scandanavia is, let alone Norway or Sweden. (Unfortunately for Magnus Smek, St Birgitte knew where *he* was.)

I'll kick ass in BG2.
Well, this doesn't really belong on this board, but I can't help but respond...
Yes, the past is very important to remember, and Americans don't do as well at that as we should...we're too busy looking at the future.
Which is not to say that looking at the future isn't a good thing. It's part of why the United States of America went from a few isolated colonies to the largest economy and most powerful nation on the planet in a little over 150 years.
Yes, I'm proud to be an American and I'm proud of my nation's history. It may not be as long but it has been good. No, not without its dark moments, but it is mine!

I would like to ask everyone to refrain from posting in a language other than the English language. I feel that it is a common courtesy that everyone is able to read what we post.

About fantasy : I think that it became the global cultural quality. Almost all my friends read "The fellowship of the ring" or other titles. There are also a lot of people that play BG2 or other RPG games.
Coming back to magic in Athcala I wanted to describe my favourite bug in this game :
Because the cleric's magic is not regarded as magic by cowled wizards we could use it without consequences. What is more the pit fiend could be used without any penalties to reputation so we could kill everyone in Athcala and still have 20 rep. I really wonder why cowled wizards are not interested in these pit fiends running on the streets.

The Cowled Wizards aren't interested in Athkatla, just their own hold on the use of magic. They only care about their own power. They are evil, I say! EVIL!Originally posted by Manveru:

Are you sure?

IIRC then innate magic is not considered magic either. I can cast all the horror I want and these magelings don't seem to care

Insert signature here.
I belive that I will meet them (cowled fools) again in ToB - to hack and slash my way to fortune
woohooo !!!
But pit fiend is not enough for me - I've read that clerics will be able to summon the avatar of their god
in ToB.
And then we shall see the new quality in kiling cowled idiots ("ever pathetic, ever fools" - Irenicus).
