OOC: Wow all! This story is truly turning into something special. It's been hectic irl for me lately, but I shall endeavor to do my part :)

IC:
Vivien continued chanting next to the convulsing Darkpoet. Her words almost stumbling over themselves in her urge to help. The shadows around them seemed to be circling, but she knew that was a trick of the flickering light. Shadows cannot circle, as they have no mind, no anime.
Darkpoet suddenly groaned, and sweat began running down his face. She stumbled in her words, her tongue tripping as worry rose in her breast.
He lurched forward slightly, and she reached for him out of habit, feeling a jolt pass through her as her hands connected with his arms.

"I'm here." She said, her eyes searching his face, but he did not see her.

She ran a hand gently over the features of his face, the familiar features.
"You have not let me down. Ever. Through peril and confusion, and Waverlies, you have been there. I am here now. Come back to us my poet."

The Journal of Rai’ya, High Priestess of Amaunator and Ruler of Tris. (Excerpts)

6 Kythorn, 843 (DR)
Praise Amaunator! Our new keep is completed! I have just finished the Sunset Ritual from the rooftop garden. Crowds have gathered all day to witness the rituals. The keep is perfectly placed in the valley to observe the sun in all phases of its glory. The people seem happy to know that their tithes and good works have come to such fruition. Our little realm of Tris will surely prosper now!

18 Marpenoth, 849 (DR)
The treaties are complete. The High Elves have deeded the southern lands to Tris, and our people may now make use of this fertile, vacant land. Ya’que, my good husband, and Perth our young son, will soon oversee the migration. This will alleviate the crowding. We expect the tide of immigrants to continue, but now our happy little realm may sustain all who come! The glory of Amaunator shines brighter each day.

4 Hammer, 852 (DR)
Today, I held an audience with The High Priest of Moander. He was petitioning for the ‘return’ of lands to the north, but I was able to demonstrate that our claims and treaties give us prior authority. He accepted the news with dignity, but his servant, a young cleric, was more spiteful. This young cleric of Moander claims to be a self-styled master of shadows and predicted ruin for Tris. I had to have the guards escort the irritating boy out. The High Priest apologized for the boy’s outburst, and confided disdain for his own servant. Apparently the young cleric is a bit too focused on the corruptive aspects of Moander.

21 Ches, 852 (DR)
Perth, our beloved son, has decided to join with the High Order of Amaunator’s Paladins. He seems truly happy, but I have mixed emotions. He could do no greater honor to Amaunator, but I worry that the Order’s vows of chastity, abstinence, and celibacy now means that our lineage will cease. So be it. Amaunator’s will be done. Ya’que and I simply must strive to make our names and the realm of Tris something to be remembered through the ages!
That there; exactly the kinda diversion we coulda used.

Thantor rubbed his beard thoughtfully. "The qa transfer is a mysterious process, Georgi. As I said, each is unique. The demon we struggled with was particularly virulent, however, and his influence may have been disruptive. It is reasonable to assume that your memory loss could have been a result of its attack, particularly since the loss is so localized. Have you had any other symptoms?"

"What kind of symptoms would I have?" Georgi asked, mildly concerned.

"Head spinning, projectile vomiting, levitation, speaking in a guttural tones with a completely new lexicon of words."

Georgi wrinkled her nose. "No, nothing like that. I did initiate a conversation with you of my own choice. Does that count?"

Thantor smiled. "I should probably keep you under close observation. Fortunately, we have an unoccupied cell." He grew more serious. "Tell me more about how you are feeling? We really haven't had an opportunity to debrief."

"This is......strange," whispered Dragon Wench in breathless excitement.

"What do you suppose it means......the young cleric..... I wonder how accidental us getting this keep really was, we need to find that accursed real estate agent."

Dragon Wench's thoughts tumbled after one another in quick succession as she tried to grasp the significance of what they'd found. As she was contemplating the meaning of Kramor's ruins, she suddenly heard the sound of footsteps. With a racing heart she looked up and saw .....Jerren. No, it was Nippy. In her semi-dazed state, surrounded by the ancient past she hadn't really been focusing on the here and now. She was faintly surprised that this time, the sight of Nippy did not make her want to crawl away, back into a hole somewhere. She felt gratitude towards Thantor for helping her to confront her pain.
Then, Gwalchmai and Dragon Wench showed Nippy what they and Kramor had discovered.
Gwalchmai and Nippy bowed their heads over a fragile segmment of parchment, the writing on it was unlike any they had ever seen. Puzzled, they studied it intently.

Dragon Wench found herself intrigued by the small vial that the skeleton appeared to have been clutching. Carefully she picked it up and looked at it closely. It was very dusty; carefully, she brushed it off with a corner of her crimson sarong and as she realised what it depicted she blushed a deep red. Upon it were five entirely naked men combining massage oils and administering them to their recipients in a most soothing manner. :D

OOC- :D

INC-

Darkpoet stared at jennabard in shock, a dark flame...dead.

"i'm sorry..."

"don't be, it's not your fault...it was mine. the past has a nasty habit of catching up."
jennabard turned away uncomfortable in showing any pain that she is going through.

"not all is lost to me, darkpoet. there is a chanec of rebirth, in the pheonix fires. but that is not why i am here with you."

darkpoet looked disgusted,"what are you here for then, to peach about how wrong it is to hate the order of the most radiant heart. it was the reason why she died in the drow wars... all that pain...all those scars...how can i continue on within the order when it was their fault for sending her in the battlefield."

"do you blame yourself?"

"what?!..."
darkpoet thought for a long time, was it his fault that she died, he was there after all. if he could only have been quicker, if only she didn't telepoet him and the others away from the bloody field before...before she casted a fireball on herself, taking all the drow and herself included.

"it was her choice then?"

darkpoet remained silent.

jennabard quietly came toward him again, making eye contact," i'm not here to preach, nor am i here to tell you what to do, what path to take. i am here because being sad and alone is a terrible thing and i have my share of it as well.i am here to tell you that you are not alone, we all have our moments of dispair, darkpoet."

"i'm not ready, jenna..."

jennabard began to unbound her hair, shaking a red ribbon loose from the dark strands. she took darkpoet's left wrist and began to bind it.
"this i give, as a reminder to you, darkpoet that no matter what path you take in life, if you feel like your falling, look to the ribbon and remember that we will catch you."

jenna kissed him on the cheek,"good journey, darkpoet."

"good journey, jennabard..."

darkpoet watched jennabard turned into the firey pheonix and disappeared before conscouisness took him.

Ooc: That's sweet Jennabard :)

IC:
Darkpoet suddenly jerked upright in her arms and began to topple, his eyes fluttering oddly.

He slid towards the ground, and Viv tried to stop his falling, but there was only so much she could do without being crushed ( ;) ).

She sat with his head in her lap watching his chest move, his breathing now becoming more regular, and watched his face for signs of life.

Darkpoet slowly opened his eyes, putting his hand to his wrist. He feels the ribbon, tears burn on his cheeks. He looks up a Vivien, he sits up.

"I'm sorry, for the trouble I cause you ladies. Please, forgive me."

“Nippy!” Gwalchmai said, looking up, “I’m glad to see you! This must mean that the ritual is over. Did everything come out right?”

Nippy shuffled his feet, “Seems so, yes. Loner is resting with Kramor, Georgi and Thantor are having a heart-to-heart, and Anomen seems to have free run of the keep. I never knew the old Anomen, but he seems calm enough. No more arrows in people’s backs.”

“I think he still deserves some watching, though,” Dragon Wench said, “We probably shouldn’t trust him completely, yet.”

“His ki appears to be a healthy kaleidoscope of colors these days,” Nippy said, “No one color appears to dominate. There is some turmoil, but very little. Not at all like the beast that Darkpoet had captured.”

“Well,” Gwalchmai said, rubbing his eyes, “I can’t translate this document here, the light is too bad. Some of this ancient text appears familiar - similar to ancient druidical writings. But it is clerical in nature. Maybe, Nippy, you’ll have better luck? In the meantime, I sure would like to explore these five doorways a bit more. Unfortunately, now is not the time.”

“Why not now?” asked Dragon Wench.

“Well, you’ve already been hit by one trap. I’m out of Detect Trap spells, and I’m sure you didn’t go to bed last night thinking ‘Hey, I might need nine Knock spells tomorrow!’” Gwalchmai sighed, “I never thought I’d miss Jan Janson or even Yoshimo.” He gathered a few of the journals they had found, “Besides, Jennabard’s spirit asked that we create a funeral pyre for her at the temple ruins at Ogre Falls. That should be our priority. Not to mention, our hunt for the Shadow Master.”

“I suspect that the Rai’ya mystery may hold important clues that will help us against the Shadow Master,” Dragon Wench said, “But you’re right. Jennabard should be our first priority.”

“Not everyone is needed to start a fire, are they?’ Nippy asked, “Perhaps we should go back to the keep for some rest, then decide who goes to Ogre Falls and who continues our investigation here.”

“I don’t know,” Gwalchmai thought while looking at the tapestry of the five striking young ladies ( ;) ), Jennabard’s request may require all of us being in attendance. Let’s go ask the others.”

Vivien beams and shakily stands, trying to help Darkpoet up as well.

"It wasn't any trouble, you're our friend."

She gives his hand a squeeze before dropping it and shivering while looking around.

"Now what do we do is this dark and rather dreary place? Should we try to find the others, or rest?"

Darkpoet smiled, "It is kind of damp and dark. Lets go out, in the sunlight."

Taking Vivien's hand, he guided her outside of the Keep.

Dragon Wench was still absorbed in her study of the small vial.
"Odd this," she said.

"It looks as though it may have contained some kind of potion."

She also wondered at the detailed imagary of the small container. A particularily well- toned and attractive figure caught her attention, and with a slightly fiendish light lurking in her expression, she glanced over to Gwalchmai and pointing said, "look, this one ressembles you."

Both men blushed at her comment. Nippy coughed and again enquired how they should go about rescuing Jennabard.

"Perhaps we should all go to find Jennabard, it could be dangerous, and I have the feeling that she will need the energy of all her friends. But I could be wrong, perhaps we should ask Thantor, he seems to know a bit about these things."

Georgi leaned forward on the table, cupping her face in her hands, subconsciously covering her scarred cheek. She looked down reflectively. "It brought back some memories that should have stayed buried. Things from my past I would rather forget..." she sighed.

"The past rarely allows itself to be easily dismissed. One has to come to terms with one's memories, rather than push them to the back of one's mind to fester. Perhaps it might help to talk about them."

She felt the old anger rising in her. "Come to terms..?!? It's easy for you to say these things! How can you possibly understand?!" she glared at Thantor.

"I can try, if you'll let me," replied Thantor calmly, his eyes sincere.

Georgi ran a hand through her hair. "Sorry... experiencing this all again, it's a little overwhelming... I never told anyone about it before... My family died, when I was young. Thirteen, actually. Our keep was invaded by mercenaries. It looked like a simple raid, they took everything of value... but they massacred everyone, even the servants. My father told me to hide... I watched him die." She clenched her fists, remembering how powerless she had felt, how helpless... "Room after room, and found nothing but corpses. They were-" she fell silent, unable or unwilling to describe the horrors her young eyes had seen. "I was the only survivor."

Georgi: Rofl :D

IC:
Darkpoet still seemed odd, or down, and Vivien did not want to pry into his personal affairs, or into what had just happened back there.

They sat on a sunny bench and discussed small things, friends, flowers, the oppression of the masses by the state. Sitting quietly and being together felt good to Viv, friendship that could work through many problems, and she even smiled as Darkpoet pulled a leaf out of her hair. Did everyone see her as a head in the clouds nature girl?

Well there were worse things...

"I wonder where the others are...what's happening to them..." She mentioned as they rested and watched...though they did not know what they watched for...

The Journal of Rai’ya, High Priestess of Amaunator and Ruler of Tris. (Excerpts)

16 Eleint, 853(DR)
Perth has passed his tests, and is now a Paladin of Amaunator’s Order. Unfortunately, our joy is marred. There are those who suggest that my patronage has given Perth unfair advantage. They cannot believe that he could test so high. It is said that only Sir Rex, himself (the commander of the Order), scored higher. I and Perth know, as does Sir Rex, there was no undue advantage. But these rumors spoil the celebrations.

2 Marpenoth, 854(DR)
I cannot fathom the wagging tongues of the peasants! Now they suggest that Perth’s fast rise through the ranks is due to alleged ‘favors’ I have bestowed upon Sir Rex. Ya’que tells me to ignore the prattling of little minds, but I fear my subjects are losing faith in me. Amaunator’s teachings tell me that the faith of the common folk must be earned by their rulers. But I have done nothing to perpetuate such rumors! Our realm is peaceful and affluent. What could be wrong?

25 Hammer, 855(DR)
Disciples of Moander are making disturbing inroads among my people. Observance of the Dawn, Noon, and Sunset rituals is not as fervent as it was only a year ago. I fail to see the attraction to a god of decay, death, corruption, and rot. It seems to be only so much fertilizer. I hear talk of a master of shadows, who leads our people away from the brightness.

10 Eleint, 855(DR)
Crops are failing, and I am being blamed. Those who follow Moander claim that I am unfit to rule, while those who still follow Amaunator say that my alleged dalliances with Sir Rex has tainted her blessings. It has been almost a year, and still these rumors won’t go away. The wise Hermanes, a seer and my trusted friend, is inexplicably sick. But he refuses to cease tracking the root of the problem.

29 Eleint, 855(DR)
Hermanes has died. His last prophesy, the one that may have killed him, concerned an Order of warriors. He described them as Dark Flames. They, apparently, are all that may stand in the way of Moander’s Master of Shadows. I have sent the few remaining faithful Paladins of Amaunator out to scour the countryside to seek this order.
That there; exactly the kinda diversion we coulda used.
