The Familiar as an NPC? What class?

Post by Thomas »

While poking and editing with the game I came up with the idea to make the familiar an NPC that where part of the party itself.

Said and done, I ventured out on the web and found a neat little picture of a pseudodragon to make a portrait out of and created a character wich was to become the familiar.

Now I wonder what class the various familiars in the game would be best suited to? And what special abilities they should be boasting with? I decided to let the cat familiar to be able to shapechange into a panther 3 times a day for example.

Odd question no? Image

I would say a Wyvern tree times a day for a pseudodragon.

I thought about that as well, Weasel, but the wyvern is quite simply too large to be useful. Perhaps a baby wyvern would be more appropriate?

I think I've hammered out some good guidelines for the various familiars now. Trouble is that I only got a portrait for a pseudodragon. Anyone know what a Quasit and a Dust Mephit looks like?
