problem with xp in windspear hills

right, basically, when i get back to garren after the dungeon malarky, i don't et the 44,500 xp. I think it may have been the way i did it, I went down to firkraag, said i was off, then killed him (without asking him for a fight strictly speaking), then went and saved garren's child. But yea I don't get the experience for any of it, though it puts all three quests (journey to the windspear hills, firkraag himself and garrens child) in the completed folder.

Has anyone got any hints or ideas? bit stuck, any help would be appreciated. im not a paladin btw
