Gah, imprisonment!

Well, I'm making an attempt to solo ToB as a monk. Currently, I'm on level four of Watcher's Keep, and I'm having a hell of a time with that demi-lich. I can and will beat him, but I'd like to express some displeasure with the way Imprisonment was implemented into the game. Surprisingly, I had never ...

It's really hard to say. I'm sure the developers had something in mind as they wrote the storyline, but I wouldn't be surprised if they had similar debates (read: arguments :D ).

The only thing that really comes to me naturally is that the protagonist is somehow human; being Gorion's adopted child ...

I also noticed that just about every major interaction in the game had original voice talent, which was pretty cool. As busy as everyone is working on other projects, I'm glad to see that they didn't skimp on the budget for ToB.

I thought it was great, by the way.

Very poor test. As has already been said, Deathblow isn't going to have any effect whatsoever on Minsc; it's worthless. And Critical Strike means Minsc is doing double damage with every hit. Your favoratism for Minsc is quite clear, and I think you tipped the scales in his favor because you wanted ...

No. Either you or Imoen has to give Sarevok a piece of your soul in order to continue. You don't have to let him into your party, however; though you'd be a moron if you didn't. :D

All of the warrior special abilities work with ranged weapons as well. Greater Whirlwind, Critical Strike, Smite, you name it. Although logically it wouldn't seem like a whirlwin attack could be used by an archer, all that ability really does is raise your # of attacks per round to 10.

Hmmm. I wonder... has anyone ever tried using the Mind Flayer strategy against a dragon in BG2 or ToB? Does it work?

I really enjoyed ToB. I've played quite a few expansions in my day, and most of them were pretty lousy. BioWare went above and beyond the call of duty, as far as I'm concerned.

I'll agree that it was terribly linear, especially from an evil point of view. No matter how you respond, virtually all ...

The beholder's anti-magic ray works just like an Anti-Magic Shell spell; it completely negates any magic in the area, including spells, magical effects, and magical items. The thing is, though, the beholder also can't fire his rays into an anti-magic field, so the best he can hope for is a draw.

It ...

Gotta disagree here. I'd say drop Aerie, like I did. Unfortunately, she won't get any high-level mage abilities or spells until much later in the game, since her multi-class status limits her from casting 7th, 8th, and 9th level spells for quite some time. Also, you just can't have too many tanks in ...

The dialogues with Sarevok are random, so you're not guarenteed to to recieve all, or any, of them during the course of the game. If it's important to you, you can force NPC interaction by activating cheat keys with the baldur.ini file. Press Ctrl+I, and you'll initiate a random dialogue. There are ...

How can you object to the BG series' length? Compared to most PC offerings, the BG games are absolutely enormous. It took me weeks to complete the original Baldur's Gate, and even longer to play through Shadows of Amn. Even Throne of Bhaal, an expansion, had plenty of gameplay packed into it.

I ...

If you want to check out some of the dialogues, active cheat keys through the baldur.ini file. Simply press Ctrl+I, and you'll initiate a random dialogue. I've got to hand it to the BioWare writers; they came up some really great stuff. :D

I've completed ToB, and the Jaheira romance. Sadly, there isn't much to it. I think there were about 5 or 6 dialogues, and they were mostly reassuring her that you'd remain the same person, regardless of what transpires.

Rather than leave your computer running for hours on end, or fiddling with ...
