I think that if there will be BGIII it will have another story, something like Icewind Dale II or i hope so because making another game about Bhaal spawn would be ridiculous.

Try use some bow's, it's always handy to kill stuff while they can't hit you, also first search area's south of Friendly Arm Inn.

From my experience you need only 1 mage. I always played with max 1-2 mages (and one of them was dual class), so I rarely used offensive spells, mainly I casted buff's (Haste, Improved Haste etc.).
