Do not buy this game for PC - worst game bug I've ever seen

I've seen a few posts on forums by people who don't have the following issue on a PC, but many others, including myself, do have the issue. And sega's suggestions of edits to the engine.ini file do not fix it. It is the worst bug that I have _ever_ personally experienced in a game in at least a ...

I must be on a different planet than the OP

I'm truly stunned that AP was released. The most basic thing that I can say about the game is that it doesn't work, and I don't mean that it doesn't start or that it crashes. You can play it, but the controls don't work. On my PC that has played every ...

bad analysis

The analysis in the OP and subsequent posts is flawed. Zero attempt is made at fairness.

If somebody condemns a serial rapist, it is bad analysis to point out that that somebody was mean in the 5th grade, lied recently to their wife, and fudged a bit on his taxes.

In other words ...

yeah - thanks Gawain.

At first that math didn't seem to fit, but I ended up finding a ring that gave only resistances and by using that to test, I figured that out also.

total defense vs total ac? what is the difference?

Within minutes of starting Arcanum, I ran into having to wonder what the difference is between total ac and total defense. Is total ac just irrelevant, and the real number of your not-getting-hit-defense is total defense?

I am rather shocked and frustrated that I cannot find this answer anywhere. I ...

Quite certain about best build now

Assuming that you are planning to take your character into hardcore and beyond, I am now quite certain that the best build is:

Infiltrator, with assault rifles instead of the widow special sniper, and probably with Improved Geth Shield Boost (75% shields, 10% weapon dam for 60 seconds, and the ...

uninterrupted walks in the forest!

lol - hehe.

I just read over the previous posts in this thread for any specific claims of how Oblivion was better than Dragon Age. Other than graphics and soundrack, there was one other idea listed, and I'm not making this up: uninterrupted walks in the forest ...

1) If a new rpg came out, and what happened in it was that 1/3 of the way through, you find an item that causes all of the enemies to stand still and absolutely never attack you while you kill them, without exception, then wouldn't we consider that an essentially gamebreaking flaw that any decent ...

Fable, I'll make a few general points then I'll address some of your specific questions or arguments.

My 47% (or whatever) tax rates included soc sec, which is ~12%, medicare, which is about 2.7%, and state tax, and sales tax, and property tax. Income tax plus soc sec and medicare drive the Fed tax ...

Ah, Saladin, that explains things a bit =)

I don't play shooters at all, except when an rpg sort of forces it on me. I can only think of Fallout 3 and the first Mass Effect where I have done shooting. I'm a strategy/rpg guy.

That sounds like quite a cool strategy, Salidin.

My only problems came when dealing with the Praetorians, I think those ships are called. Perhaps your strategy of staying as far away as possible helped you with them. Now I am curious to try that route of all sniping. I know that I liked sniping a ...

I'm a libertarian, essentially, although that is putting the cart before the horse, or the label ahead of the philosophy. I have an understanding of what works and what is moral (those two tend to coincide) regarding govt, and "libertarianism" has a good overlap with what is true and good regarding ...

The end of this post contains a slight spoiler regarding powers gained mid game.

I did my first playthrough on veteran, and it seems pretty clear that a Sentinel with Reave is the best way to go, although I'm sure there are some other nifty choices.

Overload and Reave, combined, can do massive ...

Fair enough, RPGguy.

Glad to have you posting, DataSage. I enjoyed Oblivion for several days until I figured out that it all sort of went nowhere, and I am glad that you made your post so as to give several of us another chance to criticize Oblivion - hehe. You have a full right to your opinion ...

Oblivion brings out the worst in my personality. I realize how terrible this sounds, but I find it hard to come to any conclusion other than that you have to basically be completely stupid in order to enjoy Oblivion.

Its like, if you don't realize that virtually nothing matters in Oblivion, then ...

Cresh,

I actually meant playing an arcane warrior that _single_ wields a dagger with a shield.

I'm also quite certain that flame weapons is better in nearly every case than telekinetic. Flame weapons can do 17 fire dam against undead and darkspawn, and around 12 to humans and such, because they ...

I have to say that, in version 1.02, the noble dw dual wield warrior, particularly a templar/berserker (some might say /reaver) is far and away the best. If you are using a party and not going solo, this is especially true. You can run ahead and ignore your party and kill everything yourself, and ...

Yeah - I am the same about enjoying analyzing complex games. I like to have the fattest possible manual with as much mechanics as possible so that I can make decisions. I actually wish that Dragon Age had done more that way and left less stuff ambiguous ("rapid aim" etc.). I found most of the ...

Mr. Bean, your post was quite fun to read. I liked to hear how you dealt with those fights (gives me something to compare with, etc.). Very nice strategy.

It seems that you like to go with a spellcasting arcane warrior, assumedly with something like the armor of diligence or Varathorn's early on ...
