how do i defeat the demon wraith in the maze level of the watchers keep? any good ideas are welcome.

hey!
i have problems killing the fire giant holding the last scepter in lvl 2 of the watchers keep. i've lured the fire elementals to the ice room, but the lava pit in the fire room keeps healing the fire giant and i can't kill it. is this a bug or have i missed something.
