There are loads of magic maces, and so there should be. Plenty of monsters resist slashing/piercing but are vulnerable to bludgeoning.

For the same reason at least one of the non-tanks should go for sling rather than bow (and there's a good sling very early on).

Also there are some very good short ...

Hehe and I think a party with a gorgeous couple and 4 uglies is quite feasible. How often does that fit bird have an absolute minger for a best mate?

LOL, Aregorn (sic) I can't believe you said this:

Again I think you are miss distributing ability points for your Cleric. You did right to always maximize the ability points where the particular character needs it but remember also to minimize it where it is not necessary. Here you have too much ...

The Cleric has summon spells too. I'd go light on the summons spells for a sorceror. Buffs are useful (some of the armor spells, cats grace, haste, improved invisibility, spell protections) - leave the rest to the clerics too. Also some spells to remove such protections from the opposition. But ...

Maybe I shoulda read this thread first. I've gone dual-wielding. Mind you my character is a little unusual all round...

Actually there ar far better weapons (two stonking greatswords for a start) in the game than you can get in the Hall areas, but you won't get them until near the end. By then I was leaving vanilla +5 weapons where they lay...

Yes indeedy, the whole money/trading thing is almost pointless. Whoever tested the gameplay deserves shooting as the whole game is unbalanced. It could have been a very good game, if not quite up to BG standards, but the numerous gameplay issues take it down to a so-so level. Shame.

The INT score has no bearing on the Sorceror. In fact of the classes available the only one that INT really impacts on is the Rogue - high INT means he learns his skills quicker. Seems probable that you don't need to max out the Rogue skills if you have a high INT, so a few levels of one of the ...

As far as Cleave goes, my Monk/Fighter got it, and so does my Cleric/Paladin, so it's not limited to Barbarians. I don't know why your Cleric/Barb doesn't get it - have you upgraded to 1.3 in case it's a bug?

As far as your party are concerned I think that you may be underpowered in the "warrior ...

Well, you tried solo (which I think is impossibly hard unless you've already been through the game once) and now you're trying duo. I'm now playing it (nearly finished) trio (having decided that I didn't like a full party). My 3 characters are:

Half-Elf Fighter/Monk: My favourite. Does insane ...

Talking about what Gygax ripped off from LOTR is quite funny really:
Elves, Dwarves, Halflings, Orcs, Rangers are all based on the LOTR model. The last three probably didn't exist in literature before Tolkien and Tolkien's take on Dwarves and Elves (in particular) was so different to what came ...

I've always imagined that Aragorn had a flexible fighting style, perhaps in some way akin to Japanese/Chinese styles. A shield goes with armour and a hacking style. A bastard sword (or maybe we should think in terms of a katana) would fit better than a longsword in D&D terms.

On half-elves: on ...
