It's in the first level on the expansion. Just off the beach. Look around, you'll find the gate.

Push hard through the game and they'll get tougher.

It's the Snowball * from the secret area. The *** is three snowballs at once. It's more for fun as the snowballs are not very high damage. If you pack rocks in them, it helps. ;~P

When I arrived in Hades in Epic mode, I died much more frequently. I felt the same as you did.
