Personal opinion...what is the best gear for a mage in bg1. If you want go the extra mile your favorite solo character gear?

also i started a regular mage but i am not sure if i should start over and specialize or not. I would like all types of spells though

Kelben Blackstaff?? i didnt even know he was in this game. Are u refereing to the guy at high hedge thaylater or whatever. Because in my game he doesnt sell haste in that shop but only like lighting bolt and another scroll for 3rd level spells.
