I don't think that it is random as I have purchased many masterwork items from him and I always get that option. I'm playing CG w/cleric/fighter/rouge & wiz. No matter which of my party member does the talking the option is always there and frankly I was abit amazed to find it there in the dialog ...

Please tell me whats up with that figurine that was in the rock with Terjon's artifact. Terjon said it should not have been distrubed, ok, but what's it for?

You can usually rest there without incident. Although, some form of creatures seem to show up there, they have never attacked my party... with the exception of Brigads!

I had a slew of monsters lingering around that place after the many "resting" times I spent there and one time ...
