How come nobody told me about:

Infinity Engine Mod List & Installer

Good Lord, people have been hard at work while I slept.

It is essentially an auto-installer for MODS which catches conflicts. Go and see yourself. I'm still trying to understand.

Looks like this site isn't really up and ...

... more important than the mods - what character class it's gonna be?

I think I've found the perfect class for me.

Core components

Open that. It's from the Rogue Rebalancing mod, which I will install somehow.

The bard kit? Jester. Totally fits my style! I'm thinking of a solo Jester. The ...

If You plan on installing SCS2, then no. SCS2 will slow Your PC enough. But bear in mind that i play BG2 on laptop (while working), which aint high end (or even low end) and i might be wrong.

I'm kinda surprised. I thought modern computers were able to handle lots of stuff. My computer is about 2 ...

Hard to say. If all the new kit stuff works, geez, I dunno. There will be a lot of options!

What is this widescreen MOD crap whatever?

I don't really care much about graphics, I thought BGII was fine as is. But should I look into this?

This is my current much smaller plan.

+++++++++++++++++THE ROUGH PLAN SO FAR+++++++++

Enhancements / fixes to the Core Game

House of Sim WeiDU
Pocket Plane Group - Bending Baldur's Gate 2 and the Infinity Engine

This is what I have so far

I've going to install the BG 4 pack which installes BGI, Tales of the SC, BGII, and TOB.

I patch them all with official patches.

Then I will do the following. Not in this order.

Two? As in " No death, no reload "?? Man, I certainly loved that thread of yours!!!

I just logged in for the first time since long ago myself. I played BG2 around the same time like you and got a little hooked on Dragon Age during the last weeks. Otherwise I didn't play much between 2003 and now ...

Help an Old Dog learn New Tricks

Hi, old-school SOA gamer here.

I used to play a lot. Posted here a lot. Then I thought I was playing too much and broke my CD's and threw them away.

I went and had a productive few years. Now I am back, and rewarded myself for a recent project completion by buying the Baldur's Gate 4 pack thing ...

Did find the lost thread

I have found it. Took a while.

I went back and looked over my bard solo in BG II:

And the Icewind Dale solo:

Wow, long time since I have been here

I've not looked in here for...well... years.

How are things?

Are Xyx and Fable still poking around?

Is anyone else doing solo bards?

Still have to disagree, in a party the bard rocks

"if you are looking at a party where you have the characters to cast these same spells on your fighter, then the fighter comes out on top. i.e. in a party that has a fighter and a Bard, which one would be the better archer?

it is the fighter ...

I've given up, sorry

It does not look like I will finish the game, sorry.

It's just boring... I'm remembering how much fun I had with BGII and this just pales...

The last straw was the black dragon, after killing everything at this jungle temple. I put in a stelae, boom it appeared. I was still ...

I dunno, I'm feeling pretty low about it

This is why I am hardly playing IDII anymore.

I have not really written about it since I tried to get into the underdark. This is my experience.

Used: refers to number of shadow summons used.
Required: refers to my estimate of shadow summons actually ...

Back from Vacation

Sorry, just got back from vacation...

I also was suffering, before I left, from IDII fatigue. I realized, with a shock, that a large percentage of the time I was simply sitting back and watching the game play itself; meaning, my summoned beasts were fighting the game's ...

Best Archer

Gotta respectfully disagree with the statement that the best archer is a fighter.

I'd say Bard, by far, because, well, I'm playing one. Plus, it just makes sense the way the game is set up.

Basically, you just need two feats (rapid shot, precise shot). Both Bard and Fighter can ...

blitzing

Just plowing through the fell forest/wandering village screens. There is nothing like a pair of shadow greater werewolves to make somewhat difficult battles as easy as pie.

Really, these summons are too powerful. They regenerate like crazy, they do crazy damage, they last all battle and ...

That sucked

I mean sucked, bit fat rocks through a tiny narrow straw.

What is the deal with the ice palace? Jeez, I had to run around up stairs down stairs like 10 times before I could get all the quests done. Go ethereal, kill stuff. Whack a priestess, run over stop her from going E, then whack ...

the power of the shadow

Sweet jesus, I think shadow summoning are overpowered.

Seriously.

My new tactic, not very clever I know but then I never claimed to be original or smart, is to scope out the big battles, then buff, summon 3 high-end shadow allies, then attack.

Like, for example, those ...
