technical problem - my last hope

Post by gonosuke »

Configuration:
PIII/1.13 GHz, graphics Radeon 7500 64MB DDR - latest official drivers 6.13.10.6118, OS Windows XP - DirectX 8.1
PoR II patched to ver 1.4

Problem: when i start game all works flawlessly but after some period(random, around 5-20min) screen suddenly "lost sync", in another words f.E. menus, characters etc. start flash fast and are no more visible on so distorted screen :-(

I'm not from US, official Ubisoft forums won't work and I'd needed some hints what to do :-(

Please help - your experience, suggestions etc...

Thanks

Gonosuke, emailto:dunric@mail.nextra.ro

=====================================

my exp:
I consider me not as newbie. I tried to change all possible configurations of DirectX settings for my card incl. turning on/off & change level of antialiasing, tried to disable every possible program running in background but did work nothing :-(
I fear that game contains one of basic programming bug - it uses backbuffer for smooth animations but in DirectX contents of this buffer need to be checked(can be lost,corrupted by outer event) and if check fails it need repaint it and game this check miss :-(
No another game or app using DirectX has these problems (i tested around 50 programs) so I assume it won't be driver or HW problem.
If you ask why it is so important to me I'll tell you i like this game and it is only one in long period of time designed in classical "old school" style - it rocks.

It seems that PoR has some combatibility issues with XP, several users reported that they have the same problems with you at the Techinal Support over at Ubisoft Site. In fact they say that the game was never supported on XP, but they give a few tips that could make the game playable. :rolleyes:
