Unknown World and End of Game (Spoilers)
Unknown World and End of Game (Spoilers)
I finally finished the game. I have a question about the unknown world. Also, for added fun, I have some comments about my game-end experience.
On the Unknown Planet (Central Beach?) there is a sort of observation point where you can overlook the Ebon Hawk. Out in the distance, to the left of the Ebon Hawk, you can see some sort of structure, or structures. Does anyone know what that is? I'm playing on the PC, and to me it seems to sort of shimmer. It looks like 4 towers. Is it supposed to be a gigantic crashed ship? Is it part of the Temple? Part pf the Star Forge? Am I just seeing things?
Ok, this should probably be in another post, but I'm to lazy to create a new thread. Here some game-end comments:
I played light side first and then went back to a saved game I had on the temple summit and played to the dark side ending. They were both pretty cool. For whatever reason, I had an easier time playing dark side. It's probably b/c it was my second time through.
In the walkthrough, in the fight against Malak, they recommend using thermal grenades. I confirm that they work GREAT.
Be advised, I rarely used grenades throughout the game. So by the end I had a ton, more then 20 thermals.
The best time to toss them is right after Malak recharges himself off of a captive Jedi. He usually tries to buff himself up, so you have a nice window to toss a few grenades on him. Sometimes I could knock him down and I could keep tossing grenades on him until I hist the point where he would run to a captive Jedi to recharge.

i think those "towers" in the distance are fallen starships. for the longest time i kept trying to reach em, but, of course, they dont let u.
haha...when i first played the game i kept dying every time i tried to fight malak w/ my lightsaber. so, what did i do? i ran around the whole room at least 200 times, occasionally hitting him w/ a force wave. lets just say it took me a tad bit longer than an hour to beat him.
ha, i know better now. *shakes head*
anyways, i was never able to hit malak w/ grenades cause he's always on the move, but ur advice sounds good. i should try that next time i play against him. also, i heard u can use the jedi captives to ur own advantage, but every time i tried this (use a force power on em) nothing happened. i just got 1/4 of my vitality points whipped outta me from that freakin baldee...

Well - Drain Life should work on them, netting you some health from it - but I never tried it.
Also Throw Lightsabre should work, to prevent Malak from powering up once more.
(Edit: Spoiler tag added to the thread title, please remember this in the future)

Destroy Droid also works, as does most offensive dark side moves, IIRC. However, I rarely play the ending of that game as DS, so I may be misinterpreting events.
In the end, I recomend that you dont set mines unless they are far enough away and you are sure that they will run into them. Otherwise its mostly a waste of time...
Also, having actual constitution helps. Especially when trying to go blade to blade with Malak. Also, strength. However, if you do go up against Malak, the walkthrough recomends that you use the life support packs. I do not. I have a preference towards using the Force Heal line, as it seems to work faster and to the effect I wanted to.
Stims work well, however, you will not have time to inject many. The best are the high end battle stims. I, preferably, avoid stims, as eventually you lose their addons and it usually happens at the most crucial times.
I tried the granades before... do not throw them at Malak while he is throwing his lightsaber at you. It does more damage to you then you would believe. Also, if you stand still to much or keep running to far away from him to use many moves effectively, he will use offensive DS moves, mostr notably drain life. This also gives him back some health, which stings. It also causes great annoyances to finsihing the game, and leaves kinks in your paths.
He also likes to use dibilitating force abilities. Try to use force immunity before the fight... he likes to cast such force powers as Terror. Also, he tries to remove any buffs that you have placed upon yourself.
On the good side, he has no real items to speak about. Mostly his already formidable abilities and perhaps a few medpacs, AFAIK, but I may be wrong.
And thats all I can think of for now...

Personally, I didn't find Malak as hard as I was made to believe. Being a consular, some of the KotOR Guardians said it could be tricky no matter how high my Wisdom is, but I didn't use too many powers against him.
I basically just lightsabered him left right and centre, thank goodness I made an effort with increasing Dexterity. I think the only time I used powers was while he was recharging via the captive Jedi - I kept throwing my lightsaber at him, and I used Destroy Droid to disable the remaining cpative-Jedi-life-sources. I also used heal a lot at the beginning, but later realised it would be better to use life support packs and leave my Force Points for offensive moves.
In the end, when only the top two tanks remained, I just ran off to disable them (Malak following me and yelling Tag! You're it!!) and managed to finish Malak off on the platform with a combination of Throw Lightsaber, Force Wave, and standard toe-to-toe wham-bam. I regret to admit, not very Consular-ish.
Still, defeating him as a Lightsider on the very centre of the raised platform with a final lightsaber woosh was a very touching film-like ending. But his monologue at the end made me regret every single move I took against him. Poor guy, it was all my fault.

You should do so well as to be sucked into the engine of some evil Sith Lord, you know.

I think that Malak must be partially immune to the force, it was annoying trying to use any good force abilities against them...
It also seems that consitution is always a good bet. My constitution was way to low, my top health below 200... lets just say that it didnt take Malak much time to beat me.
Apparently you are a different person from evil Revan in the end, so I didnt feel to guilty. Just kind of a flutter that I was able to do this much damage to a person. Made me feel kinda powerful... even if he is only pixels.

I just fought Malak for my first time, and he really wasn't that hard. For the most part, I just dueled him with lightsabers (I parried a lot), while not using too many specials so as not to lower my defenses too much. However, I upgraded some of my specials enough not to impose too much of a defense penalty. Also, I used the little trick where you use life support packs and advanced med packs from inside the inventory window. This allows for easier timing on healing yourself for some reason. Really, my battle with him didn't last long at all.

Not only does it work, but in my experience it has the same effect for you as for Malak ie. returns you FP to max, irrespective of how high your your FP. I've only tried it twice (DS both times), so can't confirm it always works, but it can be very useful
