Scattered Embers Pub

Post by dragon wench »

In order to avoid copious spam in the "Scattered Embers Story," Discussion thread over in Fan Fiction, I felt it would be a good idea to create a pub for everybody to hang out in and get to know one another.

This pub is not exclusive to those writing in the story, but is welcome to all

What can I say, there is plenty to drink, regardless of your preferences, cushions and low tables scattered everywhere, horribly unhealthy pub snacks... and for thems that are inclined, dancing boys and girls in a special chamber downstairs. :p

Oh goody, a place to formulate plots and drink? *sighs* I love it. :)

"Oh, so I can crate you and hide you in the warehouse at the end of Raiders?"

Now how did I know this would appeal to your warped and Machiavellian mind? :p

Erm...there's "Pub" in the title? :o

I don't think I'm sleeping, so I may just ease my boredom by attempting to flesh a character out and background story to use tonight.

Maybe rum would help with this?

lol! Good to see such an enthusiastic patron :D

*hands Magrus a very tall rum*

If you have some ideas just start spitting them out onto a document ;) I did that last night, and by this morning I had nearly 7 pages worth of an introductory post :o Once I started, it practically wrote itself.
Don't worry, there is no way posts need to be that long, I just needed to explain what my character had been doing for the past five years, and I wanted to set the stage for her present situation.

Thankee! :D

I may simply write up a character sheet as a guideline for myself. I'll know my limits, and write within them and what not. Otherwise, well if I don't have limits, I go crazy and do strange things. Best to keep a leash on my mind me-thinks. :o

The last time I truly sat down and wrote a fictional piece was 9th grade. This should be interesting. :p

That makes sense. I didn't need to write up any kind of character sheet, since I already have a character, but yeah just getting out all the loose ideas on paper really helps to organise them into a coherant (well, semi-coherant) stream :D

lol! :D Well just have fun with it and don't worry too much ;)

Oh, fun it is. I've a wonderful idea, a popsicle, a stiff rum and coke, and 8 hours until babysitting begins. Should be an interesting night. ;)

That stiff drink? Yeah, 1/5th of the bottle all in one go did a number on me. No more writing, more sleeping. :o *tips over and passes out on the floor*

hehe. :D

I'll probably write something of a character sheet as well on Word, mostly so I can work on my char's background and history. I never bother much with stats and levels and so forth, but I personally find it rather fun to write up backgrounds and histories for my chars. Also, if I do that, I'll already have a general idea of how they will act in various situations.
I wanted to change my sig, but I can't think of anything to change it to :(

I figured if I flesh out the character itself, and then have an idea for the background and what not I'll have a guideline as to where it is I want to go, and where I can go with it. Keeps my mind on a leash of sorts so I don't take off onto odd tangents. :o

Hopefully I can pull off what I want. I've got an interesting idea and I'm eager to see how it works out. :D

lol! this all sounds good :D

Yeah, don't worry too much about stats, levels, D&D rules etc. The personalities and character histories are much more interesting and relevant.

I'm working (very) loosely with 3 rd edition D&D rules, like those found in IWD2 and NWN, since they fit my character quite well. I'm bringing her back from the original DF Books, and she has of course changed a little, acquired new skills and so forth, and 3 rd edition rules accomodate this nicely.
But, as I said, rules, stats etc. aren't at all the point. Strange quirks, eccentricities, an intriguing or tragic past.. these types of things are what it is all about. ;)

I'm more fleshing out what my character has done and plans to do with this. What he knows, and how he achieved that and such. I decided to just go with notes, then write out something once the thread is open so I don't have to rewrite everything. I can just look at the post, and take my notes and give them more substance afterwards. :)

Ugh, sick babies don't leave much time for anything but watching sick babies. :(

Thought I should bump this, since conversation in Embers Discussion has just turned to speculation about whether Magrus intends to be a cross-dressing gnome, or if Syzte simply wishes to sneap up on midgets attired in dresses :p

The truth hurts, Mag! :( You can't talk about "heating things up" for Sytze's character and have us think otherwise ;)
I sincerely wish we could re-consider this plan from a perspective that involved pants.
