Elizabeth-- The Main Quest in Downtown***SPOILERS****
Elizabeth-- The Main Quest in Downtown***SPOILERS****
Okay I have done this quest like 3 timeswithout killing any police officers but when I go back to the Prince, he doesn't land me a new haven. What is going on? I accomplished the three objectives ie I got the police report, I hacked into the comp and saw the thing i needed to c on the camera and i went to the report room andcollected another document.
Mild Spoilers
It could be because of a couple things. First off, I think that only Ventrue and Toreador get the haven at that early stage. I believe that the "less favorable" clans (Gangrel, Brujah, Malkavian) don't get it until after the Grout mission. Likewise, if you weren't real nice to LaCroix (i.e. you mouthed off at some point), that could have an effect. Finally, Nosferatu and Tremere have clan specific havens to look forward to. So they don't get the downtown one.
not sure bout brujah but malk and gangrel do get haven after q
Yeah I'm not 100% sure about Brujah either. I'm pretty sure about Malk and Gangrel having to wait until after Grout, though. I'm closer to 50% sure on Brujah. It's been so long since I tried a Brujah, I simply have forgotten. It just would make sense for them to wait, if a Gangrel has to. They are not the "privledged" clan in the Camarilla like Toreador and Ventrue are.

Well, at the risk of sounding like a real Vampire Bloodlines gaming geek, I've tried this one with every clan. Nosferatu and Tremere's have to wait until later in the game to get their haven (after rescuing Barabas for Nosfaratu--haven given by Gary; and if you do the Gargoyle quest without revealing Max's involvement for the Tremere--recieved from Max). As for the other clans, as long as you are polite to LaCroix, complete the Elizabeth Dane quest without killing any cops, and agree to the Grout quest without hassling him, you should get the key to the Skyline Apartments haven as a sort of farewell from LaCroix before you head out on the Grout quest.
I didn't even know there was an option for every clan to get a new haven heh.
Ah, someone who has been sticking it to LaCroix during the playthroughs? Yeah, the downtown haven is much nicer than the one in Santa Monica. The Tremere probably get the nicest haven, though, at least in my estimate. The Nosferatu one is the worst, unfortunately, but it is distinctively Nosferatu. And if you travel the sewers a lot, I suppose it could be convenient.

You have to be careful not to kill anyone on the ED to get the new Haven. If you accidently botched that mission, it will effect you getting the new haven. Still, you should get the Haven prior to the museum mission. So it doesn't matter as much if you go commando in there (you just miss out on some extra experience). As long as you've been *nice* to LaCroix, you should eventually get the downtown haven by at least the time you're back from seeing Grout. Assuming, that is, you're not a Nosferatu or Tremere. They get their new havens from Gary and Strauss, respectively, and have slightly different things they have to accomplish.
