I have SoA and ToB installed and for some reason I'm experiencing some problems, such as I can't change the formation of the party, once I started playing and selected one of the formations it got stuck there and all the buttons show that formation (shows different ones while pressing the shift key but can't change if click), and also, when I select ONE character the first quickslot flickers and basically can't select anything else or select any action (aka find traps, open things or cast spells) UNLESS access inventory first and then going back to game, still, it would work only for few seconds and then have to repeat it again (getting kinda frustrated when need to open/disarm several chests/traps or if I need to be searching for traps), does anyone know why's this happening and how to fix it?, have the patches and tried un-installing and re-installing several times, but keeps doing same...help anyone?
Hm, that sounds annoying. What do you have installed besides SoA and Tob? What patches? Any mods?
When you did a re-install, did you wipe the entire BG2 directory from your pc? What if you start a new game, is the problem still there?
She says: Lou, it's the Beginning of a Great Adventure
Do you, by any chance, have a wireless mouse and keyboard??
I, at least, did have that, and therefore I couldnt acess all those thing you just mentioned.
If you want some more detailed information, you might want to check out my own thread
Or you could check this link from the Bioware forum.

I have the ToB patch and the beautifying (sp) and romance mod,
and yes I wiped the entire directory...and yes, the problem still there with new games....thank you for replying!!, my character is a mage and also now can't use things that should be able to, rings and mage robes, etc. Really weird, I do have a wireless mouse and keyboard as someone mentioned, could that be it??
Try downloading the latest updates for your mouse and keyboard.
If that doesn't help, then use a wired mouse and keyboard. You will see (if the game works correctly) what the problem is.
Hey there! I had the exact same problem, but now I got it solved. The problem was indeed my cordless mouse and keyboard, but to make it work I plugged both of them into my USB ports. Thanks to Sytze and his link !
